Unhappy OK guys don't hate me but...

The time has come for me to part with the PRDATR. WHAT !!!??? Yes, it is true. The ad appeared in today's Portland, Oregonian.

I am "temporarily" moving into a 996 Cabriolet with hopes of parleying that into a 94 or 95 928GTS in as close to near pristine condition as possible. For the time being I must part with my 85S. Chances are I will be in the 996 Cab as early as tomarrow.

Just curious, but why? (BTW, checkout the follow up tread about 959 research here).

Be sure to post pics of the new 928 that you're going to get. One more question while I'm at it, are you keeping the plate? If so is it going on the 996?

Good luck to ya.
Ahmet

Pat, you don't know me but I've been to your site numerous times and I've been following your posts on this board.

I really admire your 928 and it's a pity you decided to sell it. I'm sure you'll miss it in time to come, but hopefully the Predator goes to another enthusiast and not some dumb-*** who doesn't appreciate such a great machine.

Good luck to you. I hope you catch the right Shark soon...

Cheers.

I won't hate you. I appreciate cars for what they are. So many cars to drive and not enough time to try them all on for size!

Cool

No probelm, Pat! We all realize that you're just going through a "phase' to take you to bigger and better 928 things. Hope this doesn't mean you'll be absent from the board!

but,why?
I have been pondering the purchase of a 94 or 95 928GTS for sometime now and figured the best time to capture the maximum value for the PRDATR is now (especially since, I am also tossing a spare 928S4 engine, and an entire Grey Green interior into the deal).

hopefully the Predator goes to another enthusiast and not some dumb-*** who doesn't appreciate such a great machine.
I am going to be especially cautious about the perosn I am selling the PRDATR to. I too do not want to sell it to "some dum-***" who could not appreciate it.

Pat,

Did you ever see that episode of Cheers where Sam Malone is trying to sell his Classic Vette? Try not to be too hard on the potential buyers.

Good luck

Okay, I uderstand why you want to sell your current 928. And I understand why you want to buy a GTS. How does this 996 Cab fit in?

Now I'm depressed... I hope the next owner takes good care of it. I hope you stick around on the board (especially since I have an 85 and you post a lot of info).

It doesn't but I will always be a Porsche driver and I needed a Porsche that would maintain a significant retail value so shen I trade it in for the GTS it would still be worth something reasonbly close to what I paid for it. The 996 Cab was simply availble at the time I went to the the local Ferrari dealer here(Ron Tonkin Gran Turismo).
I went to Ron Tonkin Gran Turismo because as a Ferrari, Lambo, Exotic Car, and Ducati dealership they are the only likely dealership to snap up a decent GTS in this neck of the woods.

Pat,

I can't believe you are switching to the dark side. A 911 based car, have you gone nuts? I guess this means you will be on to the 996 web-board asking them questions about spritzer valves, glovebox filters, and faulty installer valves.

Just kidding! Good luck with your new car. I know that 928 sure is a sweet and I'm sure it will go to good hands. If you're nice, maybe the new owner will give visitation.

Pat, Say it ain't so! That car's a local icon.If I weren't 2.5 sharks deep right now
you'd have it sold.
Well I hope you get a GTS real soon it's the
only model missing from our local group.
If you do pick up the 996 on Sat. drop by the store, it's at 122nd and Whitaker; one
block south of Airport Way,on the east side,
called Little Chemical Co. I'll be there most
of the day.
A GTS,WOW,way cool.

I picked up the car this evening but opted for a 96 993 Cabriolet instead of the 996 Cabriolet(the payments for the 996 Cab were simply to rich for my blood at this point in my life).

The PRDATR is SOLD! I put the add in the Portland Oregonian paper and when I went down to RonTonkin Gran Turismo (the local Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Ducati dealer in Portland) to pick up my Cabriolet they asked me to bring in my 928 and they would give me the full value I asked for in the ad if it was in as good condition as I touted.

THEY DID! $13,900 for my 85S, they loved the car.

I put the $13,900 toward my purchase of the 993 Cabriolet.

Yep, I am 928-less for a now but not for long.

I will swing by tomarrow Jim and you can give the 993 a once over. I will bring my kevlar just in case you try to ambush me!
