Anyone ever heard of a 928 S4 GTE?
This is from 911 & Porsche World (I think) published a bunch of years ago. The letter from Porsche seems to confirm this special addition. Wondering if the body add ons are original to the car from Porsche or AIR products?
Interesting....

Chuck,
The article mentions Kremer making the mirrors. Kremer made a similar front bumper cover as well as rear valance. There is a Kremer S-4 here in Fl that I looked at about 8 months ago. Here is a picture.

I hear about cars all the time in the area where I live that I had no idea were here. But I guess if the guy drives it someone would see it? Why would LHD surprise you, if Porsche were truly building a prototype of sorts wouldn't you naturally assume they would do it in LHD?

Doesn't make sense. If Porsche built this car in 1987/1988, it didn't show up in Johannesburg, South Africa on a showroom floor. Porsche had his name and address the day he bought the car, in other words he bought it new. To import a car from Germany at that time would have subjected him to 100% import duty. Whereas, he could have simply walked into one of hundreds of Porsche dealers there and requested this car for that market, which would have been RHD. The Porsche dealers did not sell LHD cars. The only LHD Porsches there, are imported from mostly the US, here Porsches are cheap.
Wow H, 14,000 posts! What does someone say in this case? Congrats?
From what I gathered reading the article in my original post is, the owner saw it while at the factory and didn't order the car. The article says he badgered the factory unitl they sold it to him (this is the part I find a little difficult to believe as Porsche can be rather obstinate when it comes to stuff out of the ordinary......
