[QUOTE=ilikebig928butts;11749298]Ever since I picked up my 928, I no longer have hooker nor poker money...[/QUOT

That's not so bad. What's the point of a hooker if you can't poker anyway?

Dr Bob, same story, I had bought an 89 928 S4 in 1996 with 24000 miles and drove it for 17 years. Total expenses came to average $1200 per year in maintainence and sold it last year for $18000. I had kept a complete expense log on the car as you. The yearly cost included a couple sets of "new" wheels along the way also. I put an additional 75000 miles on it in the 17 years. I always kept up with maintainence and never had any issues or got stranded. Guy who bought the car drove it from Boston to Dallas without an issue, turning 100k miles on the way. Cost with depreciation came to about $0. 37 per mile. Not bad for driving one of Porsches best!

Just bought a 91 928 GT with 25000 miles couple years ago and starting all over again...got to love these cars!

I've got approximately 12.8 k, parts and labor ( 70% labor mine) into my S-4. About 60% of this total was preventative or elective stuff I decided to do when doing required maint. Since I finished the major stuff 8 months ago I have driven almost 4800 problem free miles, including the 2100 hundred mile round trip to SITM this year. ( few detours on the way up and back).
These cars were made to run with minimal care other than scheduled/required maint. Upgraded materials available to us through our great vendors have especially been invaluable by making the 928 even more reliable.
The biggest problem is buying a 928 that has been severely neglected by the PO's. If you want a great car spend the money UPFRONT, to buy one owned by a PO who has taken great care of it and has all maintenance/service records. You will save tons of money in the long run and will be able to stay ahead of issues and get to enjoy your shark.

Getting a lot of mileage out of a thread started a dozen years ago, plus a few days.

Thought about driving the car today in the gap between rain showers. But needed to go to H-D for pieces bigger than I'm comfortable carrying in the 928. Starting to cloud up again and there is a lurking risk of hail, so no quick dash over to Sisters for lunch either. Still need to go order those new rear tires, particularly if I expect to drive in temps colder than the "extreme summer performance" tires like. I need to load a few more miles on the car this year to get the cost-per-mile back down into the 'merely insane' range again. I'm at about $3/mile this year so far all-in; adding a pair of tires will push that even higher. Good news I think is a client that wants to share a BIG retainer for a couple projects next year. So I can continue to feed the monkey for another year.
