Finally we know what to call the space between the 928s fender and wheel...

A fellow Shark nut just had his 82 aligned to factory specs. He's running Turbo twists.
While he was cleaning the car, he noticed the gap between the rear tires and the fender was pretty small.
He said 1/4, maybe 3/8 of an inch.
Now he's worried about rubbing in turns because of the pasive rear steering.
He didn't know what kind of space he had before the alignment.
Question is, is the gap he has good enough, or should he start thinking about thinner spacers?
He has 21mm spacers now, I think. Next size down that he could find was 15mm.
That should give him about another 1/4 of an inch, so he'd have about a 1/2 inch space.
That seems excessive to me.
And there would be no sense in spending the money if he is OK with the space he already has.
Anybody know if the 1/4 inch space is good enough?

OK Guys.
I forwarded all the posts to the guy.
He called me and was freaking out.
He's getting rid of the twists and putting the original wheels back on, so don't worry about it.

My early 80's Blazer had a Live Cat Hole - drove < 2 miles from home to work once, opened the hood for a security inspection, and a cat emerged and took off like , well, to coin a phrase, a scalded cat...which it might well have been.
Spent the morning pertrified that I would get a call from Her Indoors asking if I had seen one of OUR cats that morning. Fortunately it wasnt one of ours.

Companies have their own phrase books. At BMW, a crease or body line on the side of a car is a zicke, Mr. Chapman said.

RC in XS FWIW on the rear wheels if there is about 5mm or more between the tire and fender lip,
that will be enough to clear the fenders as when the rear wheels move upwards they also move inwards,
if the tires are rubbing then the fenders can be pulled out gently with a pair of leather gloved hands

Didn't Kibort's race car just have enough room for a business card to slide inbetween the rubber and lip with no issues? I haven't heard of anyone having a problem with rear wheel rubbing issues under driving conditions where there was no static contact.

And shouldn't our chin spoilers really just be called a chin and the wheel stops in parking lots really be called Chin Spoilers?
If you get too close with a 928, they sure do spoil the chin on your car.
