Default Airbag Steering Wheel Question

Hello all,

Linda and I completed the pictured wheel recently for a 964 owner.

The wheel has our new "next generation" French seam leather airbag cover.

The problem is that the client sold his car before we completed the work and... long story short, I'm stuck with the wheel.

My good friend Rixter was king enough to look up the numbers for me and although the wheel and bag do look exactly like the 928 counterpart, it is not clear that it would work.

Does anyone ever used a 964 wheel on a 928?

Thanks in advance for the help and insight.

Paul..........beautiful work once again.

Can you measure the spline diameter? I'll compare it to my OEM wheel.

Hey Malcolm,

I'm pretty sure the splines are the same and that as been verified by Rixter.
The isssue is more about the compatibility of the airbag controller.

The shaft hole appears to be about 16mm

thanks

No idea about the air bag controller but if 16mm is accurate then it wont fit unless there were different shaft dias for alternate MYs. My steering wheel measures over 19mm at the splines.

Yes, 19mm is standard for a non-airbag wheel. The shaft is smaller on the airbag wheels.

the controllers are different, BUT they use the same interface switch on the back of bag... so they will plug in, but have no idea what'll happen at that point
