Default Poor Widdle Vette

Wifey has a long list for me today so while she was in the tub, I snuck out in the Shark. Beautiful morning for a cruise; clear blue skies, no wind and temperature in the upper 60's.

Wait! What is that? Is that a bug on my windshield? No, it's gettin' bigger but it still looks like a bug. Nope, it's one of those new vettes! Hah, that's almost as bad as a bug.

Should of seen the look on his face as he scoped out the front end of the 928 easing past him. Truly a look of wonderment.

I goosed it and he stood still, or looked like he did. Then he changed his mind after I ease off and he starts tailing me.

Funny. We're doin' about 80 and every time I let her rip, he fades. I think he's gettin' a complex so I quit toying with him and haul ***.

A couple of miles up I whip it around. Passing him going in the opposite direction, his look of wonderment has morphed to a studied "I'm not seeing you whatever that is"!

Poor widdle vette.

But this story has a very sad ending. Pulling up to the garage, my wife has blocked my spot with all manner of yard implements. I guess I'm gonna be driving a weed eater the rest of the day.

Why did I come home?

Laughed out loud at this one, as did my wife. Weather's beautfiul here in Chi-town too; we're hoping that winter is finally behind us. Enjoy the whacking and watch your rpms.

Randy, I don't know where Skidmore is located, but in Argyle I am using the excuse that the grass is too wet from the storms Friday.

Where's the damn rain when I need it. I really don't have any choice. She piled all those tools in front of my garage space so I gotta do something with them. My wife has an evil mind.

Hey Brad;
That's a good looking targa. What's the color?
Skidmore is half way between Corpus and San Antonio. Where's Argyle?

Funny Story Randy,

A new Vette'd eat my 78 & me for lunch. But I've gone toe to toe with some late 70's & 80's Corvettes and have almost always prevailed. Stop light GPs are a toss up but where I really surprize them in "at speed".

As for the lawn? The mower is down for repairs right at the moment and won't be ready until next week but even then I'm not too concerned because I've got a teenage son. I just deligate & supervise.

I forgot the good news; mission accomplished, yard work done.

Now I'll bathe the 911, maybe take it out for a spin to dry. I'm locking up all the damn yard tools before I leave this time!

Yea, nice story, but be happy that either the owner wasn't interested or didn't know how to drive his Vette. Unless you've got something hidden under the hood, the Vette would have sent you home VERY discouraged.

As for the yard work, call the gardner, their cheaper than the stuff laying in your driveway for a monthly fee.

When you say new Vette..I assume you are talking a 2005 or newer with the non pop up headlights...With all due respect to your GTS...I have to assume the Vette owner was either sleeping or talking on the phone...and not paying attention...The LS-2 produces 400 horses and 400 lbs of torque...186 MPH as a top speed...with 28 MPG on the highway for a stick...and 25MPG for an auto..1/4 mile at 12.90 and 0-60 at 4.8...translated to about a ten car length win in the quarter and you looking at tail lights with bonoculars at the top end....based on these numbers I will assume the Vette driver was having breakfast while driving on a Sunday morning and not paying any attention to you...or he knew the above mentioned performance numbers and laughed at ya...

Not sure what color it is. I just got the certificate of authenticity and it reads (Paint to sample).
Argyle is north of DFW just south of Denton where the two 35's meet. I am about 8 miles from the NASCAR track. Not a big fan though. Damn traffic

I don't think the vette with the standard motor will keep up at high speeds. The bigger motor, sure. Pick your fights and know when to fold 'em.

Also, I failed to mention that I only passed when I knew he wouldn't have time in the same opening. I'm such an ***. Oops!

6.0 is the standard engine...400 is stock HP...um...the bigger engine is the Z06 which has a 7.0 Litre with a 500 HP engine which can run 11.5 1/4 at 127 MPH on slicks(youtube videos to prove it). New vettes are quick...neighbor has a new 2006 Z06 and it is ungodly fast....the only car I have ever been in that actually frightened me....*L*..its one thing to drive a quarter mile in a fast car..its another thing to go 150 with acceleration that is still putting you back in your seat like your are doing a 0-60 run.....
