Default RMT v.2 (Rear Mount Turbo) spy pics

As promised, here are some pics.

From the back:

And from the top. Hmmmmm., notice how there is a "MAF-sized" section in the up-pipe. Looks like there could be one more revision in the works.

Owner/developer says it will be headed to the dyno pretty soon.

just heard of this type of turbo setup from a friend, is it any more easy or cheap to istall than a traditional setup?

Charley B Very clean. Looking forward to the dyno results.
Me too. Kind of funny, I guess they had ordered the wastegates with 5lb springs. Luckily they checked them ahead of time, they were all loaded with 15lb'ers. OOPS.

I think it's easier in that you don't have to pull the manifolds, your just swapping the exhaust pipes. The only "major" part of the install is running the oil lines to the turbo. The developer stated that he was looking into those sealed bearing turbos as an option. If you didn't have any oil lines to run, you are literally talking about swapping exhaust pipes and injectors.

Still no I/C on the car. With the 5lb kit probably not necessary. The long intake tube seems to do the trick. Maybe weld heat sinks on it?

Tom is still running his but has some harness issues with his car that need to be sorted out. It would be nice to get them both on the dyno.

Very nice!

I agree, with only 5spi and IC is not required. You can go up to 7psi before an IC is needed.

How about building a water jacket around the long return boost tube? Of perhaps using some of those ”tube/pipe type” water-air intercooler as part of the boost tube system.

Just a quick note....the workmanship on this Version 2 rear turbo set of pipes etc..is a notch up from what is on mine...and mine was pretty good...their pipe guy must be pretty good .

Yep..Maf issues with mine (as many of you sharktoberfest guys know )..but once I deal with that..numbers will be forthcoming .

Is it just me or is that exhaust pipe awfully close to the "plastic" fuel tank? Turbo exhaust get alot hotter than NA. Looks good though.

Far out! 'Where is the actual air intake? Is there a filter in the fender somewhere?

The exhaust runs in the normal place where the stocker would be. As far as exhaust temps....haven't measured them, but this one should have near stock temps and since the turbo sits at the back it won't get as hot as one up front.

The air filter is right in front of the turbo by the suspension ..mine is a K and N type cone filter with a hydrophobic cover for the rainy NW . The new design uses both the cover and a shield that is clamped around the filter to prevent direct spray from getting in there. Aside from that, the water has make its way up to the front and up the firewall into the engine bay...long ways for it to go.
My car has been running the rear turbo setup for over a year now...and so far so good....(all the while using data I've collected to refine the setup)...

later,
Tom

That's clearly the exhaust that's running right past the gas tank and UNDER the battery box. Neither seems like a good idea.

I would have switched the intake and exhaust. That way the intake would also come up on the passenger side, where there is more room without the steering shaft and brake booster.

My thoughts exactly.
