>What are the insurance implications. Did they pay you for the stolen car, if so, >did you have to buy this one back?
Hi oldtee
I never sent in a claim, I always believed I could get it back from the crook that stole it, as luck would have it, I did...
thx

Hey Marcus, glad it is back in your hands. It has been a month or so since we had talked about it. As you know, I was so ready to take this guy down. I think if I saw him one more time, I wouldn't have been able to control myself. Again, I can't tell you enough how happy I am for you.
Has he been located since this ordeal? What happened to the other cars we had talked about? Especially that red on red car?
I am sure you have your reasons for not telling folks who he is or the "rest" of the story. I would do it in a heartbeat, but I don't want to ruin something that may be in the works. This guy needs to go away for a very long time.

>Did you all along know who it was?
As a matter of fact I did know him, he has been known in the community for some time, he has several 928's and other rides, The ones I have checked on were not registered in his name, the shop we pulled my car out of is "rented" by this crook, not sure if he's packed it all up and moved locations yet.
I have seen his posts on other 928 boards, after a search of this on (rennlist) he hasn't posted here, I'm not sure what can be or cannot be posted on this list but I can supply more info, like the name of his company he uses as a front to get "your" car !
I will never forget the day I found his website posting all about how he engineered my car and it's the flagship of his organisation, pictured with my license plates still on the car
It's a very long story and not the kind of thing to post here, a few folks around LA know the whole story and have helped me a lot in digging up clues and keeping close tabs on him. As far as where he is now and what the police are doing, I have no current details, I expect to eventually get a phone call from LAPD to come down and pick him out of a line up

Is this the same Maverick that had the cowskin seats in a 928..and won an award at the 2004 Sharktoberfest?....That was some interesting work on that 928 (parked on roof at Petersen Museum)...had 19 inch BBS LM's if I remember correctly....
If it's not him...my apologies in advance...
Glad you got the car back though..one of the nicer wide bodies out there..
later,
Tom

Please fill us in on the story. I followed all of your links, but the blog that is supposed to detail the theft is no longer working. I did find this site about your buddy DKM. http://infoaboutdkellymarsalis.blogspot.com/

Interesting story about the "blog site" seems "our boy" had past dealing with the person who runs this blog, the person running the site ended up doing 3 years of jail time for forgery with "our boy".
After I got the car back, "our boy" and the blog site owner had words, from what I have been able to gather, a deal was struck to remove the site for a large payment, I guess once a crook always a crook....
All I can say at this point is "Maverick" works like this, he trolls the sleezy blog sites (aka dating sites) picks on lonely oversized women , embezzles all their money, leaves them, spends the money on cars that he steals or embezzles from people who belives his stories, like me, when I first me him he told me he was a cardiologist at sina sini medical center here in LA, came across as a well educated person who you could belive in, he seemed like a nice guy, turns out it's all lies , the police have records on him that span many pages, but... he is very very clever (most of the time) he walks that thin line between criminal and civil crime, 99% of his actions result in the cops doing nothing, all you can do is slap a civil law suite on him, he has loads of them outstanding as no one is able to collect, the cops wont go after him for civil cases, kinda sad that there are people out there who exploit this loophole :/
Interesting that this site is still up, http://infoaboutdkellymarsalis.blogspot.com/
The main site that was more updated is the one that has come down, not sure if it will be back up but you never know with these kinds of people

Hmm, why not just sell teh car if you can get a decent price and start with another clean 928 more to your liking? Would probably cost more to return the car to pre-stolen "style" than just selling to someone who might just like that pimp out style.

Because you would not get enough money by selling the car, to build another one like it. Think of all the time and money in that engine, and the body kit... You can't sell it, and get enough money to build another one. But the color one the outside is not bad. All he needs to do, is swap seats, and some interior panels, and he'll be ready to roll..

Y'know...
In a twisted sorta way, I'm thinkin', "Hmmm. Somebody steals my car, I get it back, it's apparently no worse for the wear, and it's got a new paint job and a whole new interior! Not bad. Not bad at all! Lessee, if I could just find a perp with a little better taste..."

your quite right here, I mean it took me 8 years to build it, the widebody is all hand made aluminum, nothing else like it, the engine also hand built and took a tremendous amount of R&D and sweat and tears and arguing with many folks here on this list and on other lists
all in good taste of course
I like the idea from one of our regular listeners about fitting projector headlamps, I am thinking to have them rise up say 2" under some new headlamp covers that I'll have to make. Good news on that is I found the origonal hardwood molds I made so making a new set of covers is only a matter of hammering them out

Marcus, this may be a long shot, but Mark Robinson was looking to change his interior to a show type motiff. I'm not sure that the silver/ purple color scheme is what he's looking for but its worth a shot. His car is silver so it wouldn't look bad.
