Default Ott-Style X-Pipes In Stock and Shipping Now

I have picked up the "Motorsport" line of X-pipes to add to our 928 performance products line, and to tell you the truth, I have had X-Pipes in stock at our shop since Sharktoberfest.

I didn't want to say anything because I did not have any Catalytic Converters in stock to go with them, for those 928 owners in SoCal and the like.

Now we do. (We have enough Cats alone to equip at least 26 Porsche 928's right now).

I like the Motorsport product - solid, heavy flanges that will not warp, they added a gusset plate on the bottom to prevent stress-cracking at the welds, and they are made from only two contiguous mandrel bent pipes which completely eliminates numbers of welds and bumps inside the pipes.

Designed with or without Cats to fit in the space available with no cutting into your factory 928 exhaust center pipe at all. Neat design.

They patterned it after the very successful Louie Ott design - and then took it a tad further and got almost another 8 HP out of it by adjusting the entry angles of the primaries at the heads and a few other perfectionistic details that I cannot disclose. The Dyno charts tell the before-and-after story.

We are selling the X-Pipes either with or without the Cats, and either with or without Hi-Temp Ceramic coating.

Here is one site:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMESE%3AIT

and Here is the other:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMESE%3AIT

All x-pipe kits ship with stainless steel strap clamps, instructions, genuine Porsche gaskets, and all hardware needed. Nothing else to buy.

The catalytic converters are all-new and all-steel. Ceramic-lined catalytic converters can turn into a maracca rattlebox after they rap off of a railroad track or something and shatter.... steel ones do not. Plus: the Hi-Flow Cats selected for these kits only reduced the HP output by 6 to 8 HP - while the best Ceramic Cat we found lost over 14 HP.

Because of the Holiday - I will be in-and-out a bit.... but I will check back and answer all your questions.

Easy to install. Sounds great without the rear muffler! Noticeable power increase. This kind of performance upgrade is very much worth the $$$. I especially like that a good portion of R&D on the Motorsport X was done on an 86.5.

With the number of 928s that have gotten or are about the get an X, shall we dub an X-equpped car a 928X or a 928X4?

Great news Carl. I really like your offerings at your eBay store. Wow - I didn't know you were selling roll bars - I may have to get one in the near future!

I picked up one from Dave Lomas a few monsth ago now. Very nice sound with the RMB....a bit of a drone at cruise but a VAST improvement over quality of sound over the old H pipe designs. My motor now sounds much more refined than it did with a standard Hpipe. Idle has a really nice WHUUP WHUUP WHUPP to it.

The bands that are supplied with the kit also do a GREAT job of sealingthe system up at the joints.

Carl, when the cats are used, if you dont cut the Stock exhaust, do you have to cut the Xpipe length?

Precisely. The Cats are short enough in length, and the X-pipe has two long straight sections after the crossover. The cats actually can be cut into the x-pipe so you do not have to cut into your factory Porsche center section at all.

Excuse my ignorance, but I'm not sure I understand what "can be cut into the x-pipe" means....am I cutting the x-pipe to put them in?

Yep. You would cut somewhere within the section where the X pipes are parallel. Get your high flow cats first, figure out how much to cut off of the X and hack away. The connectors are the wrap around style (as you can see in Carl's pics.

You cut 11" off of the rear of the X-over, it does not intrude into the X at all. The straight section behind the X is over 12" long. The cats assembled are 12" long and are installed with a 1" overlap.

If you purchase them with cats they come pre-cut and include the straight pipes for those times you want to make some noise.

Hi Chuck.

Not for long. Be a little patient. Carl will be getting a few as soon as they are done for the old buggers. Dave is currently refining the design and they will kick certain as-. Wait for the dyno numbers. We will also have the complete cat-back exhaust as well for your earlier car at a cost competitive price!!!!

Thanks,

Garrity

Am I correct in understanding that neither the 928 Specialists nor the Motorsport designs (both with cats) allow for connection to the smog pump?

I saw that you sell headers as well, will the X-pipe fit? Do you have any dyno data with headers and the X-pipe?

With the new cats you have no need for the air pump. They are more efficient and light off easier than the old ceramic cats did thus no need for the additional oxygen provided by the air pump.
