Default Automatic vs. 5 speed

Does anyone have a quick reference or source that spells out the major differences in a car with an automatic vs. a 5 speed? I'm looking at an automatic and want to know how much of the major systems I can use with my SP2 race car. I assume the rear suspension will be the same between both models. Thanks in advance for any comments.

The cars are almost entirely identical.
Engines, bellhousings, wiring, ECU are the same.
Suspension/brakes etc all the same.
The torque tube is the same except the automatic version doesn't have the holes to mount the manual shift lever.

The automatic trans stuff is pretty much "self contained"...the trans itself, the axles, the auto shifter and its mechanism, the fat brake pedal, and the cooling lines running up to the radiator are pretty much what makes an auto 944 an auto 944.

I am not sure about the bell housing but I did see this video on you tube that shows that the auto and manual are different. Maybe this will help a little

Look up Lemforder..they own ZF..Their new 8DT transmission for the Panamera should be just the ticket..electric and 8 speeds....check out their press release under ZF (Zahnradfabrik). (toothed wheel company) <grin>.
