New owners beware of shorting headlight switches.. ( results in burning the wire harness all the way to the ignition side ) as well as into the engine bay.
Ive had 3 cars in this month for the same repair issue , it only a matter of time check yours, for a piece of mind. Dp951

Note: owner tried to repair the connection with soldier. the issue was over heating in side the switch thus the wire was burned , when he soldiered the wire, he reconnected the issue thus burning more of the harness.
( initial problem was a bad switch)

Please if any one is parting 924s or early 944's id like to buy these connectors from you. please pm Thanks dp951

I have mine on their own remote relays located in the battery tray area with 12AWG running to the lights. Bonus is that they're brighter now too. I might have an extra switch if you want it, I can look this weekend.

I don't think you're getting the whole story from the owner. The only way I can see that the X buss wire to be that badly melted is a direct short to ground. I would at least put in line fuse before the switch otherwise you may fixing it again for free.
I'm done with owners who lets every Tom, Dick, and Harry taking a stab at electrical problems. They screw things up in ways you can't even imagine and then you are married to it. As Dr. House says "everyone lies"

Default David Pagan / The customers always right

The customers always right NOT As Marc Abrams brings up with these cars and high cost of book time repairs people often try quick remedies often making the initial repair worse..

" 99% of the time banging on it with a hammer doesn't fix it despite it might start working but the inevitble is soon to come"

The other times the owner must realize what is needed to do the repair properly , you cant buy a $3000 dollar car, or. A builder and expect a perfect car for x amount of dollars'

One area where all the European manufacturers dropped the ball is the electrical system. I'm not taking about the stupid this or that not working, but the lack of circuit protection. There are no fuseable links anywhere on these cars. A great mod would be to add fuseable links. Fuseable links if installed neatly can look as if the car came from the factory with them. Perhaps in the future I can do a write up. For the next 4 month or so I just don't have the time to do every circuit in the car but may do one for the X buss line to the headlight switch. It looks easy and it may not need to cut any wires.

This, and also it's like copper costs as much as gold over there. Absolute minimum gauge on wires, tiny contacts in switches, etc. The sizes of contacts in a DME relay is pathetic for the importance of the circuits connected. Every Euro car I've owned was this way, largely a Bosch problem but not exclusively.

I've replaced that switch, but when it failed it did not short out and melt any wires....one thing to consider is what wattage bulbs are being used

Thanks for the head's up on this switch. It will be on the replace list while I'm under the dash, prior to "lighting it up". Had no idea that this was a problem area. Thanks.
