Power Steering Belt Tensioner Question
While troubleshooting a squealing power steering belt, I discovered a very loose belt. Got under to tighten it up but discovered the mounting bolt on the inboard end of the tensioner was missing.
Spent some time looking around, to include scouring copies of the shop manuals, but still have a couple of questions...
It would seem that the mounting hole behind the end of the tensioner is threaded, correct? So is the missing hardware just a bolt like on the pump end of the tensioner? If so, can anyone chime in with size/pitch? I'm a bit puzzled as the parts diagrams I have found appear to show a nut and washer at the face of the tensioner with no mention of an associated bolt.
I hate asking stupid questions that should be so obvious, but it is what it is...
Thanks for the help!

The end of the tensioner that mounts to the motor is suppose to have a stud, that's why you only found a nut and washer on the parts diagram. Use the same size bolt that is used on the pump side of the tensioner. Should be 8x1.25 by 30mm long or so

And done!
Not as straight forward as it sounded, though.
Apparently the bolt had been loose/missing for a while. When I pulled the tensioner off, I found that the soft aluminum that the tensioner had been mounted to had been beaten to the point that it had "mushroomed" over the hole for the bolt. With some careful drilling, I was able to open the hole back up and chase the threads. Cleaned up the tensioner so it worked nice and smooth, and luckily, everything went back together nicely.
Love it when things come together!

glad you got it sorted.
on sunday i was re-assembling my car and stripped the block-side bolt hole for the AC/alternator tensioner...had to put a long bolt in from the back to make it work.
