Default LED instrument cluster lighting issue

The instrument cluster lighting in my S2 was updated to blue LEDs before I bought it, and I can't say I'm digging it.
At night I can see 6 blue dots reflecting off the windshield, it's distracting. Did the person who did the conversion leave something out, or is something else going on? I'm tempted to just put it back to stock, find someone with another cluster for sale. I don't like that they're super bright either, the car also has white gauge faces and that's just too much light in the interior at night. Anyone get leds to dim properly with the switch?

I put in a strip of UV led's and they work great. However, as you stated, I have a row of led dots across the screen at night, very disturbing. I need to relocate the Led strips to a different location but right now, not a priority. Too many other resto items on the list. I do like how they make the gauge display really pop. It's like black light on colors. I toned the brightness down by putting a strip of blue painters tape over the top of the LED's and sealed it in with epoxy. Made a huge difference.

I tried LEDs in the cluster and hated them. Too bright, couldn't dim them easily and they caused three dots on the windshield right at my eye level. Grabbed a busted up cluster, painted the reflectors in mirror paint and haven't looked back since.

Kurt

The conversion was done by North Hollywood Speedometer in Palo Alto California.

Mine's still using the original incandescent bulbs but I've been thinking of doing this once I find the time.. Seems like the right way to go but hard to say without seeing in person. I'm sure you've seen it already but I'll post it anyways:
