Contact koni, they will have a list of rebuilders. I would look into it before hacking up a set of genuine konis, do know that if you send them in, the rebuilder can convert them to double adjustables.

They won't touch a cut strut though.

Thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated
I actually found a guy nearby that possibly can rebuild my shocks at a reasonable price. That would be the best solution overall. But there is something I don't get. He's talking about rebuilding the shocks with new seals etc and an oil change. It says on the struts that they are gas shocks. So I guess he doesn't know what he's talking about?

Gas shocks still have hydraulic oil. The nitrogen charge is to prevent cavitation of the oil.

Ah, ok thanks. I´m kind of a novice to work on shocks.
The company I´ve been in contact with about rebuild says that he cant get all parts from Koni. Some are still available but not all. Could this be true? Anyone knows if parts still are available?

I'm sure you could get them done if you send them to the UK

Contact Paul Drake @ Raceline Suspension, he'll be able to advise you, or
the other two companies SP Suspension & IG Racing

Koni will only make parts available to certified rebuilders. Contact Koni and they should be able to steer you to an approved rebuilder.

So I mailed the koni distributor in sweden who confirms that some of the parts are discontinued.
Im afraid that just to ship the struts to the UK would cost half a fortune.
So back to square one, and inserts seem to be the most sensible option.

Ok, some worldwide shipping is reasonable costs, from and too other countries very expensive.

From the UK to the USA is cheap, vice versa Expensive!

I think from the Uk to Sweden would be Ok, but maybe from you to the UK is not?

USPS would be your best bet on USA to UK...cost wise at least.

All and any shipping costs (during my 3 year build) for goods from the USA
to the Uk was often 4 times the cost of the Uk to USA cost.

On example sending a Cylinder Head to the US cost me $70, but it was
$300 to come back!

That's correct. All international shipping from sweden is a nightmare... Almost impossible to sell stuff abroad, the shipping cost will kill any deal

You could save a bit of money by buying the Koni inserts on ebay. That is what I did...

and ended up with cheap chinese knockoffs that failed a few months after I got them. I didn't realize they were knockoffs until the failed.

I should have just picked up a set from Jason at Paragon in the first place and saved myself the hassle. "Saving" $50+/- ended up costing me a bunch in the long run.

Ouch... Did you get them from ebay? US seller?

Right now I think it will be a waste of time and money to hand the shocks over for a rebuild. I keep getting replies that parts are discontinued for these struts. The guy who does rebuilds cant give me a straight answer if its possible or not to complete the rebuild, depends on wear and/or damage. The piston on one of the shocks can be wiggled from side to side a few mm when fully extended. Is that a sign of major damage? When compressed (by hand and body weight) and released it extends to full lenght slowly and with a hiss. Good or bad?
Leaning towards new inserts at this moment.

Resurrecting this old thread. Decided to go with the koni inserts for my koni struts. Anyone knows if the tutorial for the stock struts will work on the koni? Do I cut the koni strut to the same length as if it was a stock strut? (the tutorial is the one found at Paragon)

The directions apply to Sachs/Boge or Koni struts.
