How are URO water pumps holding up?

Have been running URO water pumps on 2 of my cars for about 3-4 years now with no problems to report. I don't know the mileage on either, but they alternate as daily driver vehicles for me.

The Volvo folks are pretty down on URO as well, though the consensus there seems to be that the real shortcomings are with rubber parts (bushings, hoses, etc.).

I ordered new from Zims and got a Uro pump. Laso pumps seem to be coming down in price lately. For awhile they were $400+. Now you can find them for under $250.

We sell the URO pumps and have had very good luck. To the best of my knowledge we have not had a warranty claim. I did roll my eyes a bit when they were first introduced as we had horrible luck with the URO pumps for the 996/Boxster years ago. We took a wait and see approach to the 944 pumps but it seems that the quality is now there.

Add VW/Audi guys to the list of marques that try to steer clear of URO (at least, the ones of us that know better).
Now, it's possible that their entire product line isn't cheap crap, and maybe these water pumps are one of the better items, as Jason and others have suggested. I'd be intrigued to read some success stories after 10K's of miles.
I'm glad I read this thread because I didn't know about Zim's... I will definitely check them out, thanks guys.

You may also consider buying a rebuilt water pump from Porsche. The part number is 951 106 921 X and Sonnen charges $171.61 with a $60 core. I've run Porsche rebuilt pump on all three of our cars with no ill effects. As an additional incentive, the Porsche kits come with new hardware, thermostat, and gasket. The only thing you'll need to reuse is the snap ring for the thermostat.

Yeah I decided to go with a rebuilt OEM pump on my 951, now that I have a core. I didn't have one before and didn't want to take my NA off the road for that long. For $50 more than Uro it makes sense.

I've seen URO flex discs break on an E36 after only a couple hundred miles. They make cheap junk in China, why support them? They undercut decent European manufacturers; eventually these European parts manufacturers are going to see such a lack of demand for the parts, then they stop producing and we are left with junk. Just get a LASO pump and call it a day. Although I guess if it seizes, it's only an 8V so parts are cheaper and it's less of a PITA.

In 2014 and 50k US miles ago, I replaced my original pump with a URO (bought new from ZIMS; I don't know what happened since but at the time, their rebuilt option was NLA as the guy who did that retired).
It stated leaking at the weep hole in November and I got another URO from RA. I'm not sure I'm happy about the service time, but it is cheap and my labour is even cheaper. Happens to be around the same interval for timing belt so I guess that works out lol

well that was my thoughts. You only need it to last five years until the next belt cycle is due. Thanks for the update.

I've always been a fan of zims remans but apparently none of you listened to me championing them over the years so they've essentially stopped offering it.
I put a URO pump on my new engine a few days ago so time will tell.
