IIRC there is a hex headed screw holding it closed. After you remove the screw carefully spread open the cover and slide it off.

Solved - just had to insert screwdriver and twist to pop connector open. I just wanted to be sure before potentially breaking the cover. Perhaps -1 cars use the hex screw?

My `87 has no hex screw, just needed some coercion. Was a pain in the *** though.

Installing a MAF by chance?

No screw, I screwed up. I was thinking of the coil mount
