+1, my #1 suspect in any oil pressure thread is a faulty gauge.
I have 3 or 4 spare gauges for my 944...they all read different numbers when swapped in

0W40 is fine as well as 15W50, 5W40, 0W50 on the synthetic side. Rotella 15W40 is another good alternative, but let's not turn this into a oil debate. Use what you are comfortable with, and please don't loose any sleep over oil weight.

Update: Swapped in a glow shift pressure gauge and it reads 38 psi at hot idle, thanks for the help!!!
