Default Late 1985 944 Odd No Start Problem

Hello this is my first Porsche and im have a no start issue. I've been reading a lot of the topics and im leaning towards the reference sensors. The odd thing is I drove it an hour and a half yesterday. Fresh gas and it drove fine the whole trip. Today i went to start it and it cranks over but doesn't start. I know the fuel relay is bad because there is no fuel before i jumped it and after i jumped it, the fuel pump kicked on. So my question is (a) do sensors sound right? and (b) what are the two reference sensors actually called cause if i google reference sensors i only get one type.

Thanks Guys

Edit: Also FAE vs Bosch what do you guys think.

Ok, here's the story. Replace the DME relay with known good ones. don't buy Uro mfr'd units as they sometimes are bad right out of the box. Buy TWO so you'll always have a spare in the glove box. They should cost around $20 to $25 each. Second, you should see the tach needle bounce 1/16 to 1/8 inch when the engine is cranked. If it doesn't then the ref sensors are suspect. They are called the TDC and Speed sensors. Clarks garage has article on replacing them and adjusting the gap to flywheel (speed sensor only) to 8mm. Also if you replace them, check for a shim around the neck of the speed sensor. Don't lose it. Also plug the holes in the top of the bell housing so you don't drop any screws or washers down in there. If you do you may have to remove the whole bell housing to get them out. Also I've found the easiest way to remove them is to grip the neck of the sensor with a pair of vise grips and pull while turning it back and forth.

To be clear, The TDC sensor is to help the tech on a timming belt job. The two sensors that make the engine work are the referance sensor and the speed sensor.

okay so i think ive got it mostly figured out. one last clarification is this http://www.paragon-products.com/Pors....115.00fae.htm the same as this http://www.paragon-products.com/Pors...61.210.003.htm . the Bosch says speed and reference sensor the FAE just says reference sensor. is the FAE good for both like the bosch seems to be?

It strikes me that these are effectively the same parts, but in my experiences with the 944 I do like Bosch electronics a lot; personally what I would go with, but I should imagine either would work.

Go with Bosch sensors. There is an equivalent BMW part that is cheaper and just has a bit longer cable. Does anyone have that part number?

I used FAE sensors in place of Bosch and they prevented my car from starting. I would go with Bosch.

For clarification, sensor gap to flywheel is 0.8 mm, not 8 mm.
