Somewhat OT: Napleton Porsche in Illinois
hello everyone.
well, i have started a search for a nice 951 and just had an experience that i thought i would share with the board.
i found an 86 951 in guards red with nice mileage and a decent asking price at napleton porsche in illinois. after not receiving an email response from the dealer, i figured i'd call the showroom directly.
i spoke with a salesperson named lance. he was about as helpful as a kick in the groin. couldn't really answer any of my questions. didn't know if the 60k service was complete, didn't know how many previous onwers there were, was wishy-washy on the age of the clutch and motor mounts, and i had to dig for a straight answer on the interior condition of the car. about the only straightforward answer i got was that the sunroof was broken but "we're not going to fix that problem, we just want to sell it".
nice, huh? the kicker was that after giving me almost no tangible information (after supposedly showing the car to another buyer yesterday) he asked if i'd like to come check it out for their unmovable price of $13000.
i said no.
if napleton porsche treats all customers/potential cutomers this way, anyone using them regularly might want to double-check their quality.
anyway, that's that.

I'm not sure, but I think it's Ed Napelton that has had this same black 951 on their lot for over a year, and they want like 17k for it! Sure it seems like a nice example, and has a little under 100k miles, but there's no way it's going to sell for that price.

Napleton Porsche deals with new Porsches and the majority of used ones they have on there lot are no more than 5 years old. A Porsche from the 80s is a nusance to them. I'm surprised they didn't sell it wholesale. If it doesn't sell off the lot they will wholesale it out.

Nives/Rizza Porsche in Orland Park Is pretty good with thier stuff. I go there for parts and bought my Sport Trac from them and always get good service on that end. They usually have a couple of 944's in the shop.
