Default Oil level sender location for oil temp probe?

Hi all,

I have an oil temp sensor fitting on my drain plug. But it's sometimes a pita to remove the wire. Now that I have the pan off, I was thinking of drilling and tapping a more permanent spot for the sensor.

I have a cover plate for the oil level sender which I can't use on my build and I was thinking of tapping that instead of putting a hole in the pan.

It's few inches higher than the drain plug but I'm assuming it would be covered in oil there. Does that seem like a reasonable spot? Or will it go dry on curves and not give a good reading?

Yeah, I guess I could put it there too. I imagine there's room for it but putting it on the upper plate might tuck it away better.
