Climate Control Unit - Switches

Climate Control Unit - Switches
Bought a CCU on eBay because my defrost switch doesn't stay in and I figured I could swap a replacement over.
Took it apart, and I noticed that it looks different from the CCU in my car.
Also, the switches on it (defrost - recirc and snowflake switch) just plug in, they are not soldered.
I recall when I fixed the snowflake switch on my CCU, I had to unsolder the broken one and swap in the incredibly overpriced replacement.
Did they re-do the CCU at some point? My eBay purchase has a single circuit board but pictures I have found show two circuit boards.
Here is a picture I found on the web:
What I am wondering is if the recirc-defrost button set is compatible. Taking the CCU out of my car is a bit of an ordeal.

I believe the earlier version CCU used two circuit boards and the later just one. I have an '89 and it has the single circuit board with removable switches and I found the opposite problem. I was having trouble with 2 small switches as well, so ordered another board from Ebay, but it came with the 2 circuit board setup and soldered switches. Although it plugged in, the temp controls didn't seem to work the same. I ended up stripping down the good switches from the 2 circuit board, rebuilding my switches with the parts and putting my original board back in. Perhaps you can use the switch parts from your ebay board to fix those on yours.

Interesting.
Someone wrote "85 944" on this CCU, which I assume means it came out of a 1985.5 car.
Maybe it was not the original CCU to that car.
My 1986 CCU has the two boards with soldered switches, and I am fairly sure it is the original CCU.
It looks like you can buy the two switch set as part #944-653-921-00.
$164 at Pelican Parts! And I thought the $108 A/C switch was crazy-expensive!
