i agree, and i can't wait to see this beast unleashed.

furthermore it'd be great to see builds like this help the 968 Turbo S/RS get the attention and notoriety it deserves....

still, in my twisted mind (and nothing against the **** motor),

my recent cannonball run from Las Vegas to Salt Lake City made a lasting impression

-including the uphill mountain climbs.

i'm a full addict for torque from more liters, and the gearing allowing the use two high gears.

the 968 needs a lot of torque.

I-4, I-5, V-6, V-8 doesn't matter so much as getting as close to 4 liters and a turbine.....

or more than 4 liters if no turbine.

3 liters is too short for these cars, imo.... even one on a carbon fiber weight loss program running high boost.

we've seen plenty of racing programs that show what this platform is about.

i just don't think 600+ hp is a great idea for this block.

hell, i'm not even sure about 500hp.

seems the **** 3.0 is closer to 400~450hp for an engine we'd drive every day....

i understand that this thread is a fantasy build, and i'm all for it.

still, be it fantasy or everyday car,

i see the Hummer 3.7 I-5 block as the inline platform + boost most worthy of being developed...

imagine dependable 500hp with an easy maintenance schedule sitting in the bay of a 944 or 968.

and a timing chain!!!

I hope we can see some of the innovative idea's in crazy builds like this trickle down into more main stream builds. I particularly like what they did with the head, it allows for much better and more conventional packaging in the engine bay. The proper dual cam pulleys on one belt is nice too. These are things that us normal plebs can easily do as well provided we have the funds.

I love it when builds like this come along and move the game forward. I've noticed that in the Porsche circles, people rely heavily on what used to work 'back in the day' and aren't that keen on trying new things. Heck, my local Porsche specialist told me that anything but an 8V head for a turbo 3L is pointless. One day I'll prove him wrong with a mental turbo 16V.

I've been looking for a padle shift gearbox to work in our cars. I'd love to fit one.

Well, it's almost done! And this thing is nothing short of incredible. Full carbon fibre body, crazy aero, gt3 suspension, albins sequential, turbo dohc 3L with reversed head that is good for 900hp.

Check it out, this could be the most insane Porsche transaxle project anyone has taken on so far.

Love the lightweight flexible composite cam cover...

They did very well considering the issues they ran into.

The aero wasn't even turned up. They ran the first day with out the rear wing. 2nd day they ran the wing on but flat. missed out on the last few sessions because of another car getting red flagged. then the shootout got rained out
