Default How do I maximize the value of my fuchs

All, I've had my 16x7 and 16x8 fuchs for sale for some time for $1000 for the set with no takers (https://rennlist.com/forums/parts-ma...-and-16x8.html). It's understandable, they're in pretty rough shape. But they are straight and true and would be terrific if refurbished.

I've done a little investigation and I could get them refinished to be black in the center and natural on the outside for $150 per rim.

Or, I could get them all chromed for $150 per rim.

Or, I could buy some rattle cans off of amazon and refinish them myself (although they would be all black, I don't think I could pull off the natural finish) for about $50.

I figure that if I finish them myself, they whole set is worth about $1200. If I get them professionally painted, maybe $2000. And chromed, about $2500.

Do you guys think I have it straight as far as the pricing. What would you do? Any other ideas?

Spend $150ea for the refinish. Clean sells. Dirty doesn't. No chrome! These get polished if anything. Black center with polished lip is the way to go. No spray paint. Also if your spending $150 to have them cleaned back up then why charge more? If you want $1G and spend $600 to get $1600 then you still get your $1G. Is your time to take those to get refinished worth $400? Or do you really want to sell them?

The only risk is...when they come back from the refinishers, you might want to keep them for yourself

I had my BBS redone for about that price about 10 years ago and when I took them to get tires mounted, the whole tire shop shut down to check them out. They were bling

I'm just trying to maximize their value to me. They've been for sale for $1000 in the condition their in for months. So they're not worth $1000 as is. Maybe $900. Maybe $800.

The question is, is spending $600 to get them refinished going to net me more than $600? I *think* they're worth $2000 refinished, but am I being optimistic?

teamking, have you posted the wheels for sale on the Pelican 911 classified forum? Lots of traffic on there and Fuch's tend to sell fairly quickly. Ill admit i was tempted by these for my Carrera when i first saw you post them.

The 951 7 and 8" Fuch's are used on the Carrera if your looking for extra clearance for larger brakes; the 16x8 is the largest Fuch that fits on the front.

Put them on ebay. I sold a set recently that were in worse cosmetic condition for 1000. They were chrome plated 20+ years ago and the chrome plating was flaking off and pitted all over the place. So a previous owner tried to spray paint them over with white paint. They looked awful but they were still straight as an arrow and had no curb rash or other damage. I had them listed for 1200 or so but I took an offer of 1000 plus shipping using paypal only (without ebay I saved 10% in paypal fees including shipping). So it worked out well.

Original condition is the most desirable, in my opinion. These are very nearly antiques, and originality is the most compelling aspect.
