Default Paint shop in Charlotte?

Hey guys, I've got an 86 NA that is sorted mechanically, but the paintjob is a mixture of faded original paint and rattlecan from the PO.

I was wondering if anyone had a line on a good shop in Charlotte NC that has done some reputable work in the past for rennslist members.

If you're on a budget, I would suggest Blackwelder in Concord. It is a very small shop, not much to look at. But he did a very nice black single stage paint job on my Jag XJ6 for around $2500.

Thanks harveyf.

I'm definitely on a budget. Any chance you could share some pictures of the XJ6 after the paint job?

Sorry. It was a black car. Any photos I might still have (I sold the car) would not show you much. I would call the guy and see if he can give you some references. My orignal reference was the Dupont dealer in Concord. And I would not hesistate to give him a good reference. If the guy you are dealing with there reminds you of ZZ Top, then that's the guy!

I went with Nason single stage (versus basecoat/clearcoat). The original clearcoat on the car had failed. The car didn't need any significant bodywork. It was done in a week.

This is a bit of a secondary recommendation, but give John Forbes at Black Forest Racing in Denver, NC a ring. He helped me on my 914. They don't do paint, but he does enough restoration work that I bet he knows someone good.

John at Black forest a great guy. There are several small shops around that will do it for you. Where in Charlotte are you?

I wish I could make it.

You might want to try certified collision center on the corner of 51 and monroe. I am not sure they would want to tackle a full repaint, but that is who I would call first. The other is import paint and body on independence. They do a lot of high end cars.
