Ughhhh.

I took my car in for a timing belt, balance shaft belt, cam seals, crank case vent, coil, cap and rotor, plugs and wires, all hoses and belts etc. before the drive down to VA for The Fest. $3200 later (you know how it goes) I have a vibration and my oil pressure gauge no longer works, and of course the guy who worked on it is on vacation.

I'll get this straightened out myself and see you guys down there. I got one of those track-side rooms and am really looking forward to it. Did I read somewhere that we were supposed to bring our own targets for the range?

Highlight of my summer.... Thanks Travis and all the sponsors.

Pop off the t-belt covers and put the car at TDC. After TDC has been reached, make sure all the timing marks match up especially on the balance shaft belt since your noticing some vibration. Good luck with it!

Vibration smoothed out after a few miles. The car sat a while at the shop while they got parts and while I was out of the country for work. Maybe it was belts stretching, maybe parts seating, maybe it was just a car that sat too long. I do trust my P-mechanic (the one I have now who owns a generic "import" shop but is great, not so much the previous "Porsche specialist" who was lazy and imprecise).

Tracked the oil senor issue. He replaced the lead wires when he put the new sensor in. I am hoping they are just switched. My job tonight. Cruise is a worn harness. Wiggling gets it running. Any hints on repairing that would be very much appreciated. My lean now is to put a few strands of steel wool in each socket to get good contact.

My experience has been when the oil pressure wires are swapped, it pegs the oil pressure gauge -- but its been a while since I messed with it.

I'll switch the wires, although my hunch is to ask the shop to troubleshoot....

The engine still runs rougher than it used to, but not hugely rough. If the balance belt is off one tooth, how rough do they run? It used to be like butter, not it is like old buttermilk...

Two more weeks to go.

The novice run group is at capacity and we are actually hoping to get a couple more instructors on board. Plenty of room left in the solo group as well.

We have about 10 more spots left for the Go-Karts on Saturday. If you have not signed up yet and are planning on coming out, get on it!

Corey, the range has a $5 charge for a target backing but yes, you need your own targets themselves. There "may" be some there but just in case. We have the whole range from 8am until 11am on Sunday morning.

Doing a compression test tonight to see if I blew my head gasket again. If it checks out, I'm in!

I'm in! Anybody passing through the Baltimore/DC area during the day on Friday want to convoy down? I'm hoping to find a rural route through Virginia to enjoy the drive a bit more.

Also, I haven't shot a gun since Boy Scouts 20 years ago. Are there rentals and instructors at the range or anything like that?

Now I just have to fix e-brake cable, side marker light, replace swaybar bushings, install 6-blade fan, ...

Jeez, you're making me question my decision to only bring two rifles and two handguns!

If anyone finds out that they can't use their novice "DE" registration, let me know. I would be interested in buying your registration, because it looks like the novice sign-up is full. I think it would be cool for my first ever track event to be at 944fest. If not then I guess I'll wait til next year. Thanks in advance!
