take 1 underfunded/30 year old motor w/ dyer cooling issues + teen w/ no $$$ + talking about ramping up the suspension + autocross + all in less than 1 complete breath

= one more 944 soon to be junked (or parded)/definitely not saved by a worthy Detroit v8.

Refer to post #6.

No such thing as a cheap porsche.

Sell it, and buy a civic si, and save your money for a nicer porsche later down the road of life. That is what I did between the ages of 18-24. Nothing wrong with honda's or toyota's.

My 2014 Venza is my DD, nice AWD car for NorthEast winters, boring ride, uninspiring, but reliable and cheap.

He might have skills....pressure test it before you fire up the parts cannon.

Man fellas give this guy a break! We all had to start some where.

To answer your question I wouldn't wire in a remote turn on switch but it is possible. I would rather buy a lower temp switch for $25 then hassle with re-wiring it.

Update: Car has been parked for a week or so now. I drained the coolant system before work and tomorrow i will be removing the radiator and taking it to a shop to be pressure tested/fixed if necessary.

Take your cap to the radiator shop and have them test that also. You might pop the top belt cover off and see if the water pump pulley has any discernible play

Where is the coolent under the car. My 88 N/A did this a couple times and scared the heck out of me but I found that is because the car luikes to sit cold with the coolant levels around ir juist below the Min line on the coolant tank. If I fill above the min line it seems to spit out any extra coolant after a drive.

If it is near the frint drivers side wheel it may be just blowing off the excess.

It should not blow coolant out like that unless the pressure cap is bad. The level in the reservoir, within min/max, should not be an issue. If the pressure cap is bad it will blow out coolant after shutdown (and scare the crap out of anyone who has ever blown a head gasket).

mr teen, can you pull the thermostat out and boil it on the stove? it isn't fun to get it out or install it but it would be prudent.

Don't forget the fan switch, but I am guessing the thermostat or the head gasket.

Just bought a 75C one on eBay(OEM) for $15 delivered -- hard to beat that.

First things first -- find out where the water is coming from -- if its drivers side/mid engine bay, then its probably the resevoir overflow -- and the system is not bled properly.

Passenger side mid/front - water pump/radiator hoses. if the radiator rubber grommets are bad -- the hoses can rub against the various pulleys and get nicked or cut.

Front of car -- its the radiator. Rear engine bay -- check the hose to the heater core.

Passenger floor boards are wet -- heater core.

Otherwise check oil for any intermix -- or very clean plugs for a head gasket issue.

I had the radiator tested at a shop and it couldnt hold water for nothing, so hopefully that was the only source of leakige. The parts cannon has been fired with a radiator, thermostat, struts, tie rods, and wiper blades on the way.

I started the day wanting to get all of the new parts into the car but complications limited me to only installing the struts.

Complications:
thermostat snap ring wouldnt move for anything. I got some snap ring pliers from harbor freight that couldnt make the ring budge whatsoever. Its pretty stuck on there. (suggestions)

When i dropped the sway bar to get the old struts out the entire bar ended up coming out due to me moving the CAs so much. This made me realize that 1 i need new sway arm bushings (suggestions)

Inner tie rod install thread?
