Default rear wheels sitting unevenly in arch (side to side)

is there any lateral movement on the rear axel on the 944/968 as one of my wheels sits further inbound than the other

is it a case of undoing the main torsion tube carrier bolts and levering it across?

the car has been apart, torsion tube carrier bushes replaced with polybush black series bushes

Normal stuff, every 944 has that. Id say 1cm difference is ok, depends on in what order you build up rear suspension.

looks a bit more than 10mm

is there a way to even it all up?? take it all apart again? put it back in a different order?

ive got a AOR gearbox to fit so i could take it all apart

Its the bodywork that is off, not the suspension geometry. They are all like that and I cannot image how you would fix it.

There is a tiny bit of wiggle room for the rear suspension assembly, but it's a very big job to lower the suspension and raise it back in a few mm to one side.

I don't know how the polyurethane bushings fit as far as friction, tension, etc. With the rubber bushings, it's all in there too tight to simply move the assembly around, but with your bushings, you might be able to loosen the bolts and slide it.

If it's more than 1cm it's unusual. If you can't tolerate it, maybe you can use a very thin spacer on one side to make it a little better. Honestly, I don't know what this would do to handling, tire wear, safety, etc, so do at your own risk. I wouldn't do it.

I too have a 10-15mm difference in the rear wheels.
Early 944. I notice, but most would never no.

Does the front of a typical 944 have the same unevenness issue? My front end appears to have more wheel gap on the passenger side, and the alignment and bushings are current.

Don't think front is similar b/c it's simpler structure. Hand build cars, what can you do.

I have run 295/18 tires on the back of my old 951 and my new 944 S2 cab.

On both cars, the drivers side fender needed to be rolled more than the passenger side. The passenger side tire/wheel/suspension doesn't extend as far out as the drivers side. On both cars I have had to make a bit of space on the inside fender well of the passenger side because the inside of the tire rubs as much as the outside on the fender. A few well placed hits with a 5 lb hammer and there is plenty of room on both sides.
