Default Getting the 924S ready for a DE

Can't wait - doing a PCA DE at Road Atlanta this weekend. I washed my car and thought I would snap some updated pictures of it. I recently added the bit at the top of the windshield and the red seatbelts.

This is an 88 924S with an S2 lsd transmission, Redline rollbar, Welwood front brake calipers, Stahl headers, 968 M030 sways, Euro front and rear bumper, Konis, Cup car mirrors, manual windows and no power steering or AC or radio.

I like it, If your motor ever goes, transplant an s2 or 968 engine in it. The extra power at that weight will be excellent. Its great in my S2 @ 2900

I love a good 924S, i miss mine.

Very nice car! The S2 Trans is going to slow you down though. It's ring and pinion is lower ratio. The NA is 3:8? and much better match for 150 hp. I would not be to concerned about LSD either in our cars.

The S2 gearbox doesn't really slow you down at all. In the 1/4 mile mine proved to be faster with the S2 gearbox and it also set better AutoX times mainly due to the LSD.

LSD makes a huge difference in these cars. My trans let go at Road Atlanta last year and had to swap in a non-LSD box - had wheelspin in 7 and 10b/over the hill. Doesn't matter on long sweepers but tight corners absolutely.

Nice ride! Always good to see one as well prepped and cared for as yours. Have fun a the track.
Kevin is fast with any transaxle He don't need no stinking LSD.

Ha Ha Car Slave, I did win both my PCA races at WGI this weekend. But I think based on conversations with Van and others, LSD is an overrated advantage. Van blew his LSD box and threw in a spare plane jane stock box and won Summit, then a second at Monticello. As to the gear difference, take a short 5th against a tall 5th on the long straight and watch the short 5th walk away. Its well known tall fifth boxes are a disadvantage. With a tall final gear (S2 and 951 box) all gears are taller. Its like comparing a Chevelle w/3;07 to a 4;11 rear end. 1/4 mile will show the 4;11 gear much quicker. Obviously lsd is huge advantage in this comparison but thats irrelevant to most of us. I would sell that s2 box and buy a 924s box and have $ left for 3 DE events. The DE's will make you faster than any gear box would.
