Reference/Speed Sensor Wiring Harness Replacement
#31
Have you looked at your injector connectors? When they get old they like to short out and will cause a no start issue. Get the lindsey Racing injector harness with the knock sensor.

Thanks.

With respect to the connectors, they are new, since they came with the new wiring harness, so that isn't the issue in my case.
I'll adjust the gap on Monday and keep my fingers crossed!

Found the problem last night. The harness was assembled wrong. The outer female connectors in the plug were reversed. When I checked conductivity earlier, I was just looking at a diagram that identified the pins via the sensor male connectors, not even thinking about the fact that the female ends in the harness would have to be inverted to line up accordingly (25/26/28 becomes 28/26/25, etc.).
I should have a replacement today or tomorrow. I will check out every minute detail of these new/new wires before I install them.

It lives!
I got the replacement set of new wires, checked them first (they were assembled correctly), installed them, and it started and ran fine. What a relief. I was starting to think I was crazy. This isn't that complicated of a task, but if you have defective parts, that makes it a bit more challenging.
Now, the only catch is that the tach quit working. It is my understanding that the tach receives a signal from the speed reference sensor. Not sure why the engine would start and run, but the tach would no longer work. Oh well, glad to have it running.

All good, tach's working fine. It was actually just physically sticking. After cleaning all the connections, etc., it still wasn't working as it sat in the garage. Then I remembered that the speedo needle occasionally stuck above 80mph (professional driver on a closed course!) when we first got it. So I took it out for a drive, sure enough, after a couple minutes driving, it popped up and started working normally.
