Default new owner needs a little tlc part numbers

Bear with me because i can def be stupid. I purchased an 85 944 yesterday, i believe its an 85.5. So far shes a beauty, couple dings but almost all works, except trunk latch and passenger window. But more pressingly the front end has a decent bit of play, both directions. Id like to think im a decent parts changer, and believe to be wheel bearings, as the drivers side started maki

ng some wonderful noise that sounds like something dragging. So im curious how to find a list of part numbers so i can order the correct items. Really if i just give it some loving attention and a few parts she will be pretty nice.

Good info for a 944 n00b like me, too.

First up for me is re-seal hatch and sunroof, leather wheelskin, shift boot replace, seat re-covering, LED bulb replacements for applicable (I understand the resistor/voltage ones like turn signals).

Disregarding your front end play, does your car make its "dragging" noises while cornering or tracking in a straight line? Corners could point to bearings, as you surmised. Straight line could point to sticking calipers or something caught in/around the calipers/pads.

With the wheel off of the ground, wiggle at the 6 and 12 positions - also at the 3 and 9 positions (up down, left right).

If play is present in both directions, you have bearing play. If it is only up down, ball joint.
If it is only side to side, tie rods or rack and pinion.

You may have any combination of these, but this should get you going in the right direction. Having a buddy help look while you shake it down helps too.

I used to work as a technician and understand how to check. However there is a rattle from im guessing exhaust at this point as well.

What seals do i need that differ inner to outter? I plan to order all 4 of the front wheel bearings just simply to save myself the hassle later so i dont have to do again.
