As mentioned before, I like to do one change at a time to see what effect things have. Looking at the cam profile on the right (the race cam that is presently in)-look at the duration profile. The lobe is not only lifting the valve .030 more but even before all that lift the valve is being worked more so than the others.

I think what happened here is simply magic. Does the injector atomize fuel better with the 3 bar reg? I suspect so. And while emissions is higher (sorry), the scaveging effect of the cam must be awesome. These two were a match made in heaven.

Anticipating future rough starts, I did a small bit of work for the "choke dimmer switch". Basically just pulled it & tested the range of voltage drop when the resistance is employed.

This is a good example of when multimeters are misleading without a load. With the +&- leads from battery, there was maybe .2 volts difference, but with a load (the test light) things are clearer. Nearly a full volt different.

And to feed voltage to the instrument cluster (for brightness), I just stripped the 4 wires & crimped on an oversized (12-10 ga.) butt connector, then used heat shrink over top to prevent fires.

Dropped this in the crank case because the lifters were ticking the first day. If Lucas is good enough for Jason Gonzalez (the "Maniac") from R7 Racing, its good enough for me. I look at what Jason does & suggests & seriously consider it.

I already run Mobil 1 15w-50 year round, but this time the lifters needed help. Tempted to continue using these products.

Small update. The morning start was the same old 10.5:1 AFR. Is this normal?

Drove for a few hours today. Close to redline in 3rd & 4th but due to extreme winds & busier roads I only touch upper range 5th once & briefly to pass someone. Mid way through the drive I had to turn over & adjust the FQS to click 1, because started seeing 14:1 when WOT. This (too lean a mixture) seems to happen in the same bend, same hills entering a mountain range. Could it be the change of elevation? Then Wilson was happy again. Tried & tried but couldn't see 14:1, usually 12.8 as low as 11:1 when I stomp on it.

Funny what the added torque does to a novice driver like me. Just, I dunno, maybe 20-30 lb ft extra compared to last week, but I feel it in the suspension. And it makes me excitedly nervous. THATS why I don't want a turbo. I can't handle it.

I'm going to post this because I am proud of these. Very simple aluminum muffler hangers to adapt the exhaust to Wilson. Been on for 8 months.

Now to post UGLY. FUGLY UGLY. I'm Embarrassed.

Before I painted my car I was trimming all of the unnecessary metal bits off. In my brilliance I removed the metal near the gas cap.

Later my erroneousness became perfectly clear. PLEASE NEVER MAKE THIS MISTAKE. The metal trim here really is feather light. If you remove it, large quantities of water can enter & rust out the inner panels of your car.

Presently I get water coming in from the sunroof (more on that later) & from near the gas tank.

Now maybe I'm over reacting. Its an easy fix... simply buy another Porsche.

Don't make the same mistake...

Here are the bits & pieces that I riveted together just to make driving bare-able. Because not only does the original control the plumbing (rain water that gets past the cap will be drained out a plastic pipe to the ground). But the black rubber piece is CRITICAL at helping control fumes also.

Fumes & water. Go figure.

Notice in the "hack bits installed" pic how the black rubber is ripped.

I hate that rubber piece. It's really heavy & it's a son of a gun to install & remove.

But it is critical like I say. For a daily driver at least.

So, what's a guy to do?

Well, since it's my car, I call the shots.

A race car has to be EASY to work on, not hard. That rubber was a pain. I want something lighter & better & since I've already pooched the original set up.... maybe a fresh approach is needed?

I grabbed some utility light rubbers hoping they can be useful.

Now you've seen what I'm dealing with on the outside. Now what I'm dealing with on the inside. I liked the exposed approach & the original metal panel had to go because of the rollbar. Almost fit but the bigger diameter tube meant it was gone. This is what stuff looks like under there in case you haven't seen.

My temporary solution was white duct tape. To remove, use a heat gun first or say bye-bye to paint.

You poor SOB. Got a leaky sunroof? Stay tuned for my $.03 and 5 minute fix. Tonight or tomorrow.

I tried something but it didn't last a day before the corners lifted off. Maybe it'll help someone in trouble shooting a leak. Or maybe someone has a tape suggestion that is better than the electric tape I used.
