Default Reference sensor wire length?

I see that some ebay listings for speed/crank reference sensors for the 944 turbo show identical part no.'s that say they're compatible with the '86 944 turbo and some ebay listings say the same part no.'s are not due to wire length. How can I buy a replacement when there's so much conflict between vendors?

You'd think so but a later version (using same part number) has a longer wire. I had one of them on my previous 944. Well, at least I know that whatever length the wire is, they're at least compatible with my turbo 944.

I was under the impression that the ones with the longer wires are BMW parts, which happen to be identical apart from the length of the wire, and the price (the BMW ones are way cheaper).

I believe your'e correct. I did one on my '87 944 n/a and it was so long that I did a wrap around the AOS to take up the slack.
