Default Annoying seat belt light

My seat belt warning light won't turn off. I used small jumper wires to close the circuit under the seat. I left the same connector unplugged. I tried everything I know to do short of removing the instrument bulb. Somebody has to know a workaround???

Presumably you *are* wearing your seat belt...

The switch is actually in the latch mechanism - that should have a wire and plug connecting it to the car's harness.

p.s. Your car is a '91? Also check your passenger seat... there should be a sensor under the cushion to detect if a passenger is there for the air bag system. It may think there is a passenger there but his/her belt isn't buckled.

So theoretically, I should be able to short (connect) the two wires to the seat belt wiring under each seat and the light should go out when driving, correct?

You should wear your seatbelt.

Obviously. The annoying light is on with seatbelt buckled.

Ok, then you need to open the seatbelt buckle.
There should be a switch that detects if its latched or not.
That might fail after a while as it is usually a slider moving on a metal coated PCB board.
You would have to take that out and have it coated again. you could try soldering some material there but not sure how much it would hold.

To avoid unnecessary work prior to removing the seatbelt buckle, check if there is an electrical wire coming out of it. If not, then the sensor is somewhere else...but usually its in the buckle.

The infamous S2 seat belt light. Mine stays on with the airbag light also. Had the Porsche dealer clear it, lasted about 3 months then came back on. So I have just dealt with it. Let me know if you find a solution.

I've tried every possible connect/disconnect scenario under the seats wiring related to seat belts there is. I don't know where else to go. Frustrating there is no fuse or relay to pull. All that is left is to pull the bulb next time I'm in the instrument cluster. Not sure how a dealer can reset it(?). Anyone else got anything?

There is rumor that it is due to possibly a ground. Anyways, if you know of anyone with a Bosch Hammer they can clear the code and light goes away. Unfortunately mine keeps coming back after awhile every time dealer clears it for me. I had looked everywhere and also had dealer try to find cause when I had the car in for it's h20 pump/t-belts/etc and couldn't find the culprit.
I believe there is an older thread somewhere on this forum also but with no definitive reason as to what causes this on the S2.
