Default Porsche gods I need your help

I picked up this 85 944 that didn't run. I was told the p.o. started to put an engine in it with 38.000 on it. The AFM was missing, the DME relay was bad and the fuel pump was bad.

I got a used AFM and new DME relay and pump on Ebay. Now it will start and run but not well, runs very rich, lumpy idle and real bad acceleration.

My first thought was valve timing was off so I TDCed the motor and installed new belts, no change.

After checking the speed and reference sensors for resistance and proper gap I checked the TPS and adjusted it, no change

I opened up the DME to look for broken solder joints and found a small area that looked burnt so I tried a different DME and no change.

I,m at my wits end and need advice on what I missed or where to go next.

Does it feel like it is misfiring?
Possible massive vacuum leak? How is the intake boot?

Intake J boot is new (it was missing to) to make checking the speed and ref, sensors easier I removed the intake, new gaskets and all vacuum lines checked out.
It doesn't act like it's misfiring it's running more like the valve or ignition timing is retarded.

Try a different AFM, is it an early or a late 85?

It's early. I'll try to round up a different AMF and give it a try.
Thanks.

Think I may have found a problem, I think the AFM I got off Ebay is a late 85. Can anyone confirm this ?

I just Googled that number and I'm coming up with 85-88.
