Mystery vacuum hose
So I got a vacuum hose kit from Paragon and it included a small piece of larger diameter hose in with the metal T's. I appears to be whatever is laying inside the coil of hose on this LR page. http://www.lindseyracing.com/LR/Pors...VDK-VHK-S.html
Can anybody tell me what it is for and whether it applies to an '84 N/A?

I used that piece of hose cut in 1/2" sections and spread with needle nose pliers to go around the ends of the hoses what would slide onto smooth vacuum connections that have no barbs or bulbs on them, i.e., throttle body, fuel pressure regulator and dampers, etc. It makes the connection much tighter to avoid them slipping off.

That's a good idea. I used zip ties for that purpose, but I hate the sharp edges and the unfinished look. I only ended up using about 6 feet of tube and 1 T, does that sound about right for an early N/A? I guess a turbo uses way more of the stuff.

that piece is for Lindsey's suggested 'double-wall' hose at the connections. there's one connection that is notorious for loosening - i forget which one right now - but they give you enough for many/most connections. i opted for small zip ties for most connections.

turbo uses most of the hosing and all 4 'T's. they give you plenty for some slack for all the various sections and some design differences in how people run the connections with the FPRs.

certain hoses route in an obvious manner, others are a bit more subjective. i've noticed people routing the hoses, with the Ts, incorporating the FPRs, taking on different routing choices. it's a matter of what makes sense to that person and to what level they bring in aesthetics.
below you can see some of my routing choices.
