Default 944 Cup racing action at MMC

Last weekend the 944 Cup Nationals race happened at Monticello Motor Club with the PCA Club Race.

I thought people might like to see some of my racing action:

and:

For those keeping score, Robbie Provost was the points leader for the Northeast region and Randy Smith was the points leader for the Canadian region.

Randy Smith also won the national championship, I came in second and Rodrigo Herrera took 3rd.

It was a great weekend with close racing and lots of action!

Makes me wonder when i see 944 SP2 cars rev to 7000 rpm when my stock 2.5 engine goes flat at 6040 rpm's and 132 HP ... i think i have some serious engine work ahead of me this Winter

Just sayin ...

Cheers
Phil

If you put an '88 DME and late AFM in your car, you'll rev to 6,450. (Which is excellent to do with an SP1 car where you need to use stock chips!)

SP2 is allowed aftermarket chips, you know.

I certainly don't make much power at that RPM, but sometimes there are places where I don't want to shift up, because it's so close to a braking zone I lose time executing the shift and subsequent downshift (like before the Hanger Turn - the 90 before the long straight). Also, I'll sometimes delay a shift until I'm on level or sloping down ground, like on the long straight, so I'm not fighting gravity as much.

Very much enjoyed the video. I've been wondering what that track was like. Looks great.

BTW....nice driving, as usual.
