you mean having the vapor line running straight from tank to air filter?
should help with knock prevention
why dirty side?
The pipe from the tank is attached to the firewall inside the engine bay. Cut it off there and attach a line from it to your air filter box.
Why the dirty side? Well really it can go anywhere before the AFM, it's only fumes so you're not getting any "knock" prevention doesn't affect anything. The fumes created when the gas sloshes in the tank just get ingested with the air.
I say dirty side because even with the engine off, when you refuel you are pushing fumes out there and I would rather they didn't pool up on the clean side and soak my filter. I doubt this would happen though and if it did it would be a drop or two.
So venting it after the filter should be OK since the filter would more or less catch the fumes before they vent out to atmosphere?
I'm no expert on emissions as we don't have any in Fl. All I know is they cannot vent to atmosphere. The carbon canister absorbs the fumes or you can vent the fumes back into the intake and let the engine do the work. Either way would pass imo unless your state only allows stock emissions systems and they catch the mod.
I think I misunderstood your last question, thought you wanted to vent to the belt cover and that won't pass. I think you meant vent to the air box fitting that takes the belt cover pipe, yes that should be fine. The engine will draw those fumes back into the intake.
I've been thinking about "going lean" on some parts with the SC setup (because emissions go out the door there) so something like that might just work...not to mention my evap system is leaking as is
Thank you for the great answers. So vent the fuel tank & the engine side fumes into the engine? Would there be any chance of fire this way?
Also would this method be smellier than the factory charcoal set up after sitting in the garage overnight? <am assuming so. The car is a little gaseous already & I don't want to make it worse.

The carbon cannisters used on motorcycles are certainly smaller. Not sure how it would work out but a thought.
Hmmm, that is an interesting thought. I also like the venting back to intake for a super lightweight build, but since this is a daily & also share the garage with the wife I will keep the factory can and start researching motorcycle cans.
