'91 944S2 eBay listing with 7000 miles
I'm interested in forum member's response to this eBay listing for a '91 944S2 coupe with less than 7K miles and seller wanting $34K. I'm looking for a S2 coupe but no way will I pay $34K when probably no maintenance has been done and may be hasn't been driven for a while with that low miles. Anyone know of this car?

Ugg, that formating and the gratuitous use of "!!!" turns me right off. It shined up nice, but the reality is that it needs tires, water pump, timing belt, balance belt, the cams need to come out so the cam pads can be replaced (based on age, not mileage), all of the coolant hoses need to be replaced (age again) and all of the fluids should be flushed/changed.
So tack a about 5k on top of the purchase price if your not doing it yourself.

Porsche engineers found a way
to get rid of the 4 cylinder shake
by developing a twin
counter rotating balance
shaft system that runs
twice the speed
of the crankshaft!!

I think the full service would be well worth it, if you're going to be rolling out with a Porsche in near showroom condition having basic service done shouldn't be a show stopper IMO. Especially if you're willing to fork out that much money for an old Porsche when a used Boxster/Cayman can be had for less.

Only worth $34k for the bragging rights on lowest mileage S2 in existence. A well maintained S2 can be had for about 1/3 that price. In 2012 I paid $9k for one on Ebay with 78,000 miles and nearly $8k in verified work and parts spent on it in the previous 14 months and 10,000 miles. While not a perfect show car it's damn nice in and out.

Thanks for all your responses and pics. Some clean looking S2s. Yeah, I would rather spend less than half of what they're asking for on one with 70-80K miles that has been well maintained.

Willhoit knows his market and caters to the collectors looking for the "perfect" just off the showroom quality cars.
The value of such vehicles is difficult to determine by comparing to your "average" 944's on the market. Less than 8k miles is stupid low, but he's fishing for that special collector looking for the absolute perfect 944S2.

The seller is well known in the 928 community for asking rather dear prices for GT and GTS models. Apparently, he gets the prices too. Still, $34,000 for an S2???
