Recently purchased a 1987 951. The car stopped shifting from 1st to 2nd gear today while driving to the office. All other gears shift fine: 1,3,4,5. Reverse can be a bit challenging to work. I'm assuming the syncro to 2nd is gone? Checked the obvious; fluid level for clutch, it's full. I tried shifting from 1 to 2 with the car not running and it will still not go into 2nd.

If my assumption is correct, does anyone know of a reputable company where I can purchase a rebuilt 951 trans with LSD and a warranty?

have you checked your linkage and shifter lever?

2nd gear synchro is usually the first one to go, but I haven't seen it happen a lot on 951s. How many miles are on your car?

Where are you located?

You might try shifting from other gears into 2nd with the car off.

I have not checked the linkage. What would be the relationship between shifting into 2nd unsuccessfully but being able to shift into all others?

Also, the car has apporx. 155,000 miles. I assume its the orinigal trans?

There's an 87 lsd turbo trans on Houston craigslist. Woukd you sell your old trans? I might be interested. I can pick up too. Hell, I'll remove the old one and install the new one for a discount or something. PM me.

The trans on CL in Houston is for an automatic car; mine is a 5 speed but, thanks for the offer

The one I'm talking about is 5 speed....It's a 9U, the same trans in using in my car.
