Front Control arms 944/2
Hi All,
I have a question, my car need new left and right control arm as the ball joints are going bad, and my mechanic is proposing me 2 solutions, either to change the full control arm from Porsche either the go with the aftermarket kit to repair those.
What would you suggest, is one as good as the other? will it be a difference in the life of it?
thank you for your comments.

Price is the general determining factor.
-aftermarket rebuild kit $185
-new control arms $1237
Or, if you have an 85.5 or 86, you can retrofit early steel arms as they are dirt cheap. (same part as mk1 VW)

I have a friend with the aftermarket kit, it weird-ed me out at first but 20,000 miles later it still is on the road and he has his other $800...
Also if you think about it there are plenty of 4x4 shops who might be willing to build you a tubular lower control arm with a common ball joint for under the $1200 mark

I did the rebuild on my 944S and it was easy. So long as the seats that the arms are not damaged you can rebuild. The bronze inserts are better than the plastic ones IMO.
