Default WTB water pump and timing belt pieces?

Leaking water pump on my 86 na.. Not sure exactly what replacement parts I will need? I've got a parts guy for my 928 that all I have to do is tell him whats wrong and he sends me the right parts!!

Is there anyone out there like that for the 944? Not sure what I will have to do yet. Not sure if it's been changed over to the newer water pump yet or not.. just got my flywheel lock so I should have everything off this weekend.

I've done about half dozen timing belts on different cars, but for some reason these damn P cars always require something different or unique!

thanks

I've posted some videos on YouTube that outline the process pretty well. Maybe they'll help you.

Default Saw parts of them!

van, those are great videos! Once i get the parts off i should be able to tell what i need. Did I miss where you buy parts? I know for my 928 WP there was a lot of discussion on metal or plastic impeller, or changing from the hydralic tensioner to an aftermarket one for the timing belt. Didnt see if there was that type of back and forth for the 944?

944 water pump only has a metal impeller. 944 does not have a hydraulic tensioner - the 968 does, but that's a different beast.

Try Pelican Parts, Paragon Products, 944 Online and Renbay. All of them are, I believe, site sponsors, and all are good people to work with.

The one i removed is part number 944.106.122. 7r? Looks to be the newer of the water pumps? From what i can see I can just buy that part without other modification?
(I think)

zims is a good source for the water pump. pelican, 944online, paragon, etc. can all source the timing parts.

Zims doesn't appear to have any rebuilt water pumps available anymore. Not had any for well over a month.

The current "New" water pumps being sold there...the only water pumps being sold there are URO brand. I found by ordering one...generally I'm very impressed by them. I'm not impressed that they are selling these and my RMA is already in and it's going back.

I ordered on from Sonnen Porsche. It's not on the SonnenOEMParts page or whatever it's called, but it's a new and real Porsche OEM water pump with 2 year Porsche warranty in a Porsche box. Cost me $255 with a $67 core charge to give to the rebuilders. Talked to Neil there today and he got it ordered for me.

Shoot, thought i did well when i got a new one from autoatlanta for 136.00. Turns out it is URO also. Seems to be tight though? I am going to go with it as I have more money than time and i really need to get my 928 in for some work.

Question, i got the newer, larger idler, and stainless belt guard, but did not get a newer thermostat, thermostat spacer?, and blockoff plate? Not even sure about where the block off plate would go? All the vids and pics I've seen show redoing one that alreadyhas the newer style pump? Where would it go?

I've done a dozen tb's on half dozen different makes of cars, including 928, and this has been the biggest pita of them all! Must be getting too old for this, lol.
