Default ***PICS*** Building a 924 CARRERA GTS replica using 944 turbo 951 running gear

Hello all.

Thought I'd share with you the long road I took in making a replica (bodywise) of a 924 Carrera GTS.

Decided I wanted to use a 944 turbo engine gearbox brakes etc as this would be the easier way to get some reasonable power.

Car should have a removable roll cage basic comfort stuff, should look as close to original as possible and should be light.

Base car ? A rotten useless 924 2,0

Here's how the story began.

I bought (from the phone) a one owner red 924 with no accidents that had been left undriven for many years. I was told on the phone that it had a Carrera bodykit but this was in bad shape. I didn't mind as I would get myself a completely new Carrera GTS kit.
So, I did. Parts bought, arrived and included:

Pair of rear arches riveted to the narrow 924 fenders
Pair of front wings
Lightweight front bonnet
Front bonnet scoop
Front wings set
GTS bumper and grill
Rear extended bumper CGT
Rear glass spoiler CGTS (Longer higher lip)
Side sills set
GTS plexiglass lights

The car arrived but it was not looking good… NO GOOD AT ALL……

rear wings were dreadful....

Plastic wings were keeping moisture inside and rust was doing its work. Slowly.

APOCALYPSE....
