Looks good, but those are some nasty welds. I wouldn't trust something like that on something structural, especially if it's supposed to save your life.

EDIT: If you did this and would like to fix it, I'd be happy to help, give tips, etc.

Admiralkhole,
You are right! Sorry to take so long to respond. I have grinded the nastiest parts of the welds in hopes of improving the joints... (I found the cable that carries the gas & wire was loose & I didn't have the brains to trouble shoot the problem) ... but even with that out of the way, I am NOT a welder, so any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you!

Good to hear you're still at it! When you're ready to start welding it feel free to shoot me a pm and we can discuss technique, settings, etc. How's the progress for the rest of the car?

New trunk fab & installed & seam sealed.

Also ground & re-welded most rollbar welds. Huge tank you to Admiralkole for his guidance & effort to help! Still not pretty but stronger at least. 1 step forward 2 steps back. Thats how I roll.

Oh yeah. Had painted exterior. Tried Tremclad with hardener & reducer. After spending like 2 weeks researching online. Don't waste your time. It's junk.

That's a huge improvement over the previous welds! Nice progress man, glad I could help...Send me some more pics and we can help you improve further. It looks like the weave is just a little too wide and not frequent enough... just tighten it up a little and you should be golden. Keep me posted as you keep going.

Thank you brother... umm how would you recommend avoiding "globs" and "globbing" on vertical welds?

Weld down when going vertical with more of a perpendicular or drag position...the more the drag angle and weave, the wider and flatter it will be. If you're going vertical up, speed up, don't drag...go perpendicular and don't push it...it will pile up faster. Keeping speed going uphill is key. Start with downhill, it's much easier.

Awww well... I feel truly blessed. My paint job is not without faults but hey... it's been along journey to get it to this point. Paint is drying as I write this. Sorry neighbours for the noise.

Hahaha... yeah... many purposes. Towing forced injected sports cars up hills when something fails.

Dunno if the rear bumper will stay. I managed to get a spare rear bumper on the cheap incase I can't be seen with it. My guess to the person who asked: saves 20 percent/4 lbs of total weight of the aluminum bumper (I could feel a difference in a side to side comparison anyway).

Speaking of instrument panels... I see many beautiful racing 944 variants with different instrument panels (some classic round needle gauges, others digital displays). I assume many digital displays are MoTronic (?) engine controllers are they not? How do you convert to a non-factory instrument panel? THANKS IN ADVANCE

Nice job, I love reading these track builds with lots of pics. I would like to have my interior painted one color like yours. Cant wait to see your dash get built. Very inspiring! Very jelly! Kevin
