M030 brakes on Early NA?

Have you discussed why with him? Not sure why he would want to run larger brakes on a momentum car that uses it's brakes 3 times a lap (adding more rotating mass). With an upgrade pad, there is more than enough brake in a 944NA race car. Heck even with an S2 motor transplant, we run a car that still runs NA brakes and has more than enough brake on track with the smaller calipers. Even that car has gone 15+ events on the same set of brake pads.

Hi,
I own a new "project" '87 924S and would like to focus on Brakes and suspension. This has been a very educational thread and being respectful of the initial post, I do not want to hijack this thread if it makes sense to post a separate post. Please advise if I should and I'll follow-up accordingly.
Backdrop - I do not plan to use this car as a track car but rather build it out to a performance street car that also has some bling. I will be adding a GPS Speedo.
What I've gathered from this post, for my situation is I would need to purchase:
'86 951 rotors, spindles and hubs and wheels 16" or larger.
Questions I can use your help with:
1. Are the size of the 951 rotors equivalent to the popular large rotors on newer performance cars?
2. Do I need to purchase a new strut housing? (Bear in mind that I would like to go to a more performance driven suspension)
3. Do I, or Do I not need a bigger MC/Booster? (the various posts have me a little confused)
4. Will I need caliper adapters with this configuration?
Thanks!
Frank

If you keep the 86T spindle (so you don't have to mod strut or add camber plates) get a set of billet hubs. The 86T hub is prone to breakage. The 951 rotors are 298x28 whereas the M030 rotors are 304x32 and can take alot more heat sink if you are riding the brakes. You cannot use a 951 axial mount caliper when using M030 rotors as the offsets are wrong when bolted up, the reason I'm building adapters.

Thanks!
Who sources the billet hubs? (I'm new to the 924/944 community). Secondly, will I need to replace the MC/booster? I thought not then I thought I read where some said it is a must.

I build the early billet hubs. I'm using them as the mock-up on early NA spindles when the M030 caliper arrives in the mail. Doing it just so I can have the adapter design down. PM if interested in a set.
And No, you do not have to change the MC if you use the early m030 calipers with smaller pistons (36 x 42)

The adapter I design for the M030 rotors and calipers will fit a Late NA or an Early NA spindle with the billet conversion hubs...
The M030 calipers have much larger pad than the 951 calipers however, so another bonus.
Factory 86 Turbo spindle and caliper with the 87-Turbo front mounted rotor installed.....

Haven't forgot about this mod, my new set of M030 rotors came in and I mic'd everything. The most important unknown was the flange thickness and hat depth which dictates adapter radial bolt dimensions. I have found that every Brembo caliper I've measured has a 55mm offset dimension from Bolt hole center to rotor center. This will make things easier....
