Default FS: 89 944 w/ limited slip. The one you want!

1989 Porsche 944 - $6300obo
101,xxx miles (est 115-120k actual miles)
5 speed
LSD
Factory Alarm and central locking
Split rear seats

Located in Tulsa, OK

Long story short. This was my dream 944 that I picked up when I got back from Afghanistan; the 89 Non turbo in red. With no service records I drove part time for 6 months before putting in the garage. Over spring break I was going to reseal and put new belts on. Broke an oil cooler bolt off in the block and wound up pulling the motor out to have the bolt removed. It sat for a few months and then I graduated from college finally and moved. I brought everything to Tom Charlesworth in Tulsa, OK to put together. It had an issue that we thought were in injectors when it was finished. Turns out that it was a broken wire for the speed ref sensor grounding it’s self out. This is now fixed.

I love this car but we just bought another house and moved. So family is more important that a car. I’m also going to post a list of parts I’m clearing out in the next few days. Any parts bought with the car, e.g. M030 Koni rear shocks, are ½ off.

NOTE: The pictures are from a local charity car show with the PCA chapter. The seats in the pictures are NOT, repeat NOT, the ones coming with the car. I will put up some current pics when I get the car cleaned up. It just isn’t at the top of the priority list with everything else right now. Black standard seats, door cards and split rear seats will be installed before sale.

Maintenance/Upgrades:

Since 9/20/2013
• New seal around hatch lock
• Odo gear (Rennbay)
• Tire Balance
• Replaced dash lights with 194 blubs and fixed reflectors
• Injectors were rebuilt. They were tested, rebuilt, retested and balanced. Show excellent numbers across the board.
• Throttle cam. Original included.

9/20/2013
• New timing belt
• New balance shaft belt
• Remanned Waterpump (Zims)
• New Belts
• Front Engine Reseal Kit Cam (Pelican Parts)
• Cam Tower Front Seal (Pelican Parts)
• Oil pump sleeve and crank seal (Pelican Parts)
• New head gasket set (Pelican Parts)
• Intake Manifold Gaskets (Pelican Parts)
• Silicon vacuum lines (Lindsey Racing)
• Silicon water hoses (all) (Lindsey Racing)
• New heater valve (Lindsey Racing)
• Injector reseal kit (Rennbay)
• Replace with correct radiator drain
• Relined clutch disc, new throw out bearing
• Resurfaced flywheel
• Rear crank seal
• New Soft Rubber Fuel Hoses
• New Fuel Filter
• New Speed Reference Sensors
• Upgrade to Turbo oil cooler, new seal, custom fab lines –AN
• New cap and rotor
• ICE COLD A/C
• Valvoline VR1/Mahle

Oct 2011
• New Clutch Master and blue hose

May-June 2011
• Turbo S CS Wheels
• Bridgestone Pole Positions RE760 Sports
• Rennbay rear tie downs

April 2011
• New Alternator – It went out on my test drive and the P.O. replaced it.

Other
• 968 CS console tray and mat
• Kenwood Excelon HU
• Battery (AutoZone Redtop <2 years old)
• 10” Infinity Sub, amp, and cap, installed by a P.O.
• Front Infinity Speakers
• 25.5mm front and 18mm rear swaybars, not sure if these were factory or not

Included or installed
• Rennbay front brake kit
• Stage 8 locking CV bolts
• 2 Extra Mahle oil filter/ 6 qts of VR1
• Clutch salve rebuild kit.
• Spare, jack, took kit etc. No pump.
• Car cover
• Porsche bra
• Pair of new RE960AS in 245/50 16

Bad:
• Dash has normal cracks with normal cover
• Front seats have some poorly repaired cracks at the all four corners of the bottom cushion. Driver’s seat has a chunk missing out of the bolster.
• Paint is a little faded with some rock chips. P.O. tried to touch these up with some touch up paint for his red 300ZX. He said it’s the same color. I disagree.
• A few minor door dings. 3 in right fender right above the wheel well.
• Exhaust is there and works fine. The PO replaced it with a stainless steel muffler and tip that I dislike. I had a resonator put in because it was very very loud. Now it’s just loud.
• Battery tray had some pin holes in it when I bought it. I fixed this and used some undercoat to paint it.
• Driver’s side door handle isn’t a smooth as the one on the passenger side. Might need a slight adjustment.
• Had Lloyd’s floor mats but not the seat clips to hold them in place so the drivers mat is usually out of the car.
• Rear sits a little high. I think this is because the tires are a 50 series and not a 45.
• The front fascia had had a run in or two with a parking block and is evident on the driver’s side.
• Left rear tire has more wear on the inside edge than others because of a blown rear shock at the time.
• Rear brakes have decent pads but the rotors are not the best.
• Dash clock has a few legs that don’t light up. It did have a good clock that apparently doesn’t work at all anymore. The head unit has a clock that works just fine though.

Bump. Forgot it came with a Porsche Bra. It looks like it might have never been put on the car. It's at least in good shape.

How is my pricing? I see N/A's all over the place.

Its a beautiful car, but it is tough to get over 5k for an N/A regardless of condition. Someone that knows these cars might realize it is worth it, but I think you'll be waiting a long time with any number over 5k.

Where'd you find the hatch cargo net? Good luck with the sale.

It came in the car. I have been asked that by a lot of people. I put some pics up on here at one point and someone said it was from a Ford Explorer.

Seems like most of the ones I can find in my area between 3500-5000 would need maintance and apparently it is raining the "rare" automatic 944.

I had an '89 with similar options and it was a blast! FWIW mine was not in nearly as good of condition and had 180k miles and still went for $3500 so I don't think the price is too far off the mark....

Bump for price drop.

I changed also changed the description of the left rear tire. It's got wear but for some reason I was thinking it was nearly bald. It is A LONG way from that.

Car will also come with a new pair of RE960 in a 245/50 16.
