Default Opinions on 215-60/15 tire options?

I'm going to replace my tires this week and so far I've (sort-of) narrowed the list down to:

- Pirelli P4 Four Seasons
- Falken 912
- Sumitomo HTR A/S

My #1 concern is ride comfort so I'm leaning toward the Pirelli P4. My 944 has new shocks and good suspension bushings but still rides terrible on rough roads, probably due to having nine year old cupped P6000 tires

My 15" fuchs are 7s in front, and 8s in the rear. Should I opt for a wider rear tire or keep front/back the same?

Before I make a final decision, I'd be interested to hear what tires others are running and how they like them.

What purpose will the car be used for?Is it just a Sunday driver or are you looking to do a few track days or autocross? This can make a difference in tire selection.

I've got the 912 all around and they are great. Lots of grip for as hard as it.can be driven on the street. Very quiet and comfy too. 2 for the price of one pirelli.

Just weekend drives. I'd like to AutoX once or twice again this summer but I'm out there for fun, not to put up the lowest possible times, so I'd give up a little grip for a comfy ride.

howdy there are precious few tires in our exact factory size.
I went with Potenza and love them.
I'd also suggest General Altimax HP ot the P4.
TIRERACK has hundreds of reviews and many good emperical tests.

You could also run 225/50-15 up front and 245/50-15 on the rear with those rims. I believe BFG makes those sizes.

Falkens are great tires, I run the 512 because they're cheaper, no idea about the others except the Pirelli P4s are made in China. If that matters to you...

I put BFG G-Force Radials on my car when I switched to 17" Cayman rims (87 n/a) and love them. Good ride, not noisy and great in the wet. Use tire rack for the right diameter and width research.

Went with the Pirelli P4 and the car rides pretty nice. Big bumps are still pretty harsh in the rear.. don't know if there's something worn/broken or if it's just a now 30 year old design showing its age on shoddy roads.

glad you got a new set of tires, what is the story with your rear suspension?
you mentioned "new suspension " at first post, was that including the rear shocks? If so what brand and model shocks ?

Original torsion bar and bushings?

lastly, can you share what you paid for the P4?

I used Boge (OEM) on all four corners and also had the shop do front sway bar bushings and tie rod ends with an alignment, but the torsion bar and bushings have never been touched.

The P4's came in at $98/tire. The tread pattern actually looked remarkably close to the P6000's I was replacing.

traction; Pirelli P Zero, Michelin Pilot Sport

longevity; most Dunlops have near endless lifespans.

Rear end comfort must be tied to 25-year old rear bushings?
Anyone?
