Default :: ECS Tuning :: The Ultimate Timing Belt Kit

ECS has constructed a series of kits with the "transaxle car" owner in mind. Nearly everyone else offers a universal timing belt kit that is "close enough", but nobody else has taken the time to offer one quite so complete. Our kits include everything you need to complete a timing belt, balance shaft belt, and water pump service. We use nothing but the highest of quality components, and we have even included a gallon of genuine Porsche unmixed coolant (mix 50/50 with distilled water for two total gallons), in order to make sure you aren't stranded with an incomplete service. We've all heard the horror stories about our cars, and their timing belts. Don't be the one telling the story, be the one listening. Don't neglect the obvious. 944/924s timing belts must be changed every 45,000 miles, and 968 timing belts need to be serviced every 60,000 miles to avoid catastrophic engine failure. Order your kit today, and do a little preventative maintenance.

Depends on the water pump (make/new/refurb), and the other bits (belts, rollers).

If its any help, my service records from previous owners indicate that the original factory ( LASO brand ) waterpump lasted 147,651 miles before weeping and requiring replacement.
My current LASO has 102k on it...
YMMV

The ad does not tell what the Brand Name is of the Cam/Balance Belts nor the Water Pump. I for one would like to know Brand Names.

Cheers,
Larry

And I would be happy to oblige.

Our kits are assembled with quality rollers and tensioners from Ruville, and INA. Balance shaft belts are constructed by Gates, and the timing belts are by Continental. All water pumps are brand new units from LASO, sealed with quality gaskets from Victor Reinz.

Each kit description includes the exact components and brands you can expect to receive every time you order. Click through the kit that fits your car, and everything will be laid out for you.

For reference, Porsche recommends a timing belt change every 45,000 miles for 944 models, and every 60,000 miles for 968s. Water pump replacement intervals for all models is 90,000 miles.

You can likely get away with a water pump every other timing belt service, but personally, I don't risk it, and recommend a water pump with every timing belt. If you think about it, the cost of the water pump can be amortized over the entire 45,000 miles. Do that math, and ends up costing you less than half a cent per mile to change your water pump.

Personally, the fact that I don't have to worry about water pump failure is easily worth .5 cents per mile!

Somebody should come up with a kit that has all the vacuum and coolant hoses, belts, FOES, water pump, and AOS seals, and the option of the oil cooler seal kit, head gasket set and an exchange overhauled head.

It would be the perfect kit to get a newly bought 944 up to speed in like a weekend.

I agree! That is a very good price for those brands.

I know that the WP can go for $400 all by itself
