this is great for track day antics but i don't really see why you would spray a bunch of your newer car parts in plasti-dip... all it seems to do is just make more of your car look cheap and plasticky... although im mainly criticizing what i saw on that hyundai forum...

It seems like something that might turn out alright if done carefully enough. And it seems like there's nothing permanent about it so I'm sure it can't hurt to play around with it

I used it on my B5 S4 for the grille and emblems (looked killer going from chrome to black on the red paint) and just used it to cover a panel on my 951 where the paint wasn't looking so good (between the tail lights, I have my plate mounted there.
Only problem with it is unless you have a clear edge you're going to - it's hard to make a clean cut-off line. For instance, great for trim or the grille, but on my filler panel the bottom looks pretty bad since I just tried to follow a body line and not an actual gap in body panels.
My buddy did plasti dip then spray paint over the dip on his VW R32 wheels. Almost a year and they look great. Even scrubbed the crud out of them to get brake dust off.

Has anyone tried this on their 944 wing? Mine is a mess... old and sun-beaten. I recently used the plasti-dip for another project, and it was everything I could do not to run over and just start spraying it on the wing before I asked here first.

i did my dash in it.
but i took the dash out, peeled all the old plastic off, and rolled it on (didn't use aerosol).
you could put some layers on and sand it smoother than what i came up with, but it works good for me.
it's probably been over a year and a half by now, if someone wants a new picture of it to see how it holds up to sunlight through a windshield let me know.

+1 on current pics of the dash.
The UV resistant version is available at usplastic.com as a special order. They also have the MSDS and an instruction sheet that tells how to thin using naptha or toluene. At that dip you car place they are selling prethinned gallons. So you are paying for half the amount of product and a bunch of thinner. The spec sheet states regular plasti-dip lasts 3-5 and the UV resist is 7-10. I do not have any tools I left out in the sun for five years so no clue how it holds up in AZ sunshine.

Looking into getting a can of red and doing my hood. I'll leave it on a month or so to see how it holds up, then maybe dip my whole car. The ideal plan would be to dip the entire car in ~70 bucks or less

Well, I did the centers of my phone dials black to see if I liked them. I do, and plant to leave it there until do it properly with paint if I still like them after a month. If not, it is reversible easily
I also did the center main intake are where the European license plate goes as it is horribly rock pitted. (worst spot on the whole bumper) and actually looks good blacked in, and the Plasti-Dip hides that damage well. Again, reversible.
Well, maybe it wasn't that "horrible", but it bothered me.
Apologies for crappy phone pics.
