Default Balance Shaft Belt Dangers?

Is there any danger long term to not running a balance shaft. I understand racers will delete them. My lower balance shaft is sticky and I need to address it but I can't as of now so I don't have a balance shaft belt and I just want be sure I won't hurt anything.

Thanks,
TurrFinn

The increased vibration is known to cause cracks in the oil pickup tube and the fuel injector manifold. It's very bad for either to fail!

I read about the oil pick up. I don't know much about the balence shafts but my lower one is sticky and I believe it is my reason for a belt whine. I don't know what to do to fix it, any ideas?

The balance shaft is 'sticky'? It's easy enough to pull off the cover and shaft and have a look. May as well get new bearings & seals while you're at it.
