I am looking for anyone with one of the actual race series Rothman's 944 (not the turbo's), Or if you know about any of the cars .... I actually own one of these cars, and I have a freind with one aswell and we are trying to track down as many of these rare cars (only 31 actually made) as posible.........Thanks

There is another rennlist member w/ one of the Rothman's Challenge cars.

https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=15894

Think there is another recent thread where he is taking the car to the Rennsport reunion.

Hi Brad,

I have one and know of a couple others in the east coast (US/Canada). Mine was #22 in 1986 raced by Matthewson and #17 in 1987 raced by Surma in the Canadian Rothmans. It also raced in a couple of Firehawk Endurance Races afterwards.

Photo below was taken a few weeks ago at the Kirkland Concours d' Elegance. In a couple of weeks, it will be raced at Rennsport Reunion IV at Laguna Seca among 934s, RSRs and 935s.

I'm happy to support your effort as I had notions of getting such a list together. Do you have documented history on yours i.e. logbooks, pictures, etc? This seems to be the tough part as most of these cars were either street-driven or discarded after the series moved on to the Turbo Cup and then on to Carrera Cup.

Brad, I parked beside one at a UCR DE at Mosport last year. I only saw him that weekend, and his was street legal (I'm not sure whether they all were). His did not have its original car numbers from what I remember.

I recently turned down an offer in the $30K's. I'd sell mine in the $40K range.

Other data points:

1. There was a Turbo Cup (apparently Ron Fellows provenance) for sale on ebay in the $80K-$90K. Don't know if it sold, but it was priced over $120K for a while
2. Another claimed Rothmans car (apparently Scott Goodyear) was available for sale in Canada about a year ago via ebay. I think the owner was willing to take mid-$20s with S2 engine. No logbook documentation. I remember seeing this car on race-cars.com for sale at $35K around five years ago.

With historic and/or factory race cars, a major incremental value factor is the provenance.

cant compare the two. the rothmans is valuable not because it is a 944 but because it is a retired race car, and each one has a different value depending on who drove it to what win.

Default Hi mclaudio,

That is the car from Ken correct?, I looked at buying that car a few years back, but I ended up buying Uli Beiri 's car #6 instead. If you could email me off list the CASC # from your car and the serial number I will check to see if they match the stuff that we have, and when we get it finished I can send you a copy couperacer@hotmail.com

I own Brian Malcom's Rothmans Challenge car. I also have video from the '87 season that came with the car. Most notable finish was 2d at the Cirq' Gilles Villineuve, when Ron Fellows and another fill in for series regulars Scott Goodyear and Bill Adam wrecked each other out.

I am currently selling the car for $25000.

If you have questions, feel free to pm me.

I bought a 944 made to look like one of those cars. I plan on redoing the car this winter with plans of recreating the orginal as close as possible. I need pictures of this car from all sides. I have only found one so far. Anyone have anything on this car ?
